So fricking stupid. Just turn it loose.
We had a hospital cat we fed for a while. Rita hit. That cat was missing about a day. Came back filthy but fine.
Animals can figure some basic shite out. Like how not to drown.

but the "perfectly reasonable explanation" you initially offered is dogshit and was deservingly called out. The ended to the story is not relevant.
Its basically exactly what happened. Lots of things going on, lots of stress, someone lost their dog for a few hours.
But certainly everyone else's idea of wanting someone to be killed over this is much more logical.

man if there's something I've learned over the past decade is don't try and talk logic to people who are "pet-sessed" . Dogs are almost at the level of false idol with a shocking number of people. Just smile and let them rant.
Meh, i know people who are obsessed with way dumber things than dogs.. the reason i give people leeway to talk about and take pictures of and obsess over their dogs is becuase a dog is the only creature on Earth that loves you more than it loves itself .

Your link doesn't mention Bull Terriers.
Literally in the first line of it.

Pit bull is an umbrella term for several types of dog believed to have descended from bull and terriers
AKC and other clubs have tried to obscure the definition of “Pitt Bull” over a dozen times for 110 years now. Courts have supported the umbrella term 100% of the time while dealing with insurance and bans by the Department of Defence, the New York City Housing Authority, and a thousand other cities.
Bull Terrier history:
quote:
At the start of the 19th century, the "bull and terrier" breeds were developed to satisfy the needs for vermin control and animal-based blood sports.

my wife and I have a friend that adopted a dog, that was found with its sibling pup tied to a porch in TX when Harvey hit. she adopted one of the dogs, and a family in NYC adopted the other and didn't know.
she did a DNA test on it, and the company found the siblings, and did a story about the 2 dogs, and flew her and her dog to NYC to reunite the pups and shoot a story about it.
i think she was on a morning show up there as well, but i know the video story is online.
i would hope that in the case of the OP story that it was not tied up, got free and hung up - but that simple fact is, that shite like that does happen.
hope the pup ended up ok.

We are how we treat the beasts that depend on us…
We eat them on a daily basis. A chicken may not rush to meet you when you get home from work but its still a living animal who just so happens to be very tasty.....
I have a pet whose sole purpose for existing is aiding and abetting me in the murder of ducks and geese and the occasional pheasant and quail. They do not depend on me but they do indeed depend on us for their existence and we collectively allow hunting them which is, at the end of the day, as abusive as tying a dog to a fence post during a flood....the end result is the same.

Apparently the dog was not tied up. The story that I saw says that the dog was loose and a passerby put him in the fence and then called the cops. Apparently the dog has been reclaimed by its owner.
This was my first thought....its pretty obvious. Good thing the mob didn't get overly riled up....they'd be really embarrassed after having tracked the owner down and lynching them....

How do you put something in the fence? Plus, the video clearly shows the dog is on the roadside of the fence, in water. The dog wouldn't just stay there. And a scared dog wouldn't just stay there when someone approached them.

Is this one of those things where you people just can't believe the number of absolute piece of shite humans there are out there?

people who think someone should be murdered for leaving an animal on the side of the road?
You tie up an innocent animal to die slowly by drowning, you should be removed from the Earth. Could've just let it go if he didn't want it. Animal could've run from the flood waters.
ETA:
So happy the dog is fine! Hopefully finds a good home.

Domesticated dogs don't act like that when in distress and abandoned like this, they should be whimpering and happy when a human approaches to help. The dog has clearly been abused and mistreated by humans prior to this situation. It's not protecting it's home, it's not protecting it's owners, it is in distress and would welcome human contact to save it, were it not previously abused and had reason to distrust humans. Unfortunately, the best thing to do there is to euthanize it. It's broken and not adoptable.
This is stupid and wrong.

Oh I don’t know, maybe the hundreds of stories of people whose dog jumped out in front of poisonous snakes to take the bite meant for the owner ? You can see their puffy bloated faces online.. Or that one time at the dog park somebody made a quick unexpected move toward where i was sitting , and my normally mild mannered dog growled and made them jump back.. or the innumerable other acts where dogs are famous for almost always putting the safety and wellbeing of their people in front of their own selves .
Honestly you sound pretty ignorant, maybe next time think before you post .

I don't know if every dog would, depends on breed and how it's raised. My big dog gets in between me (and wife and kids) and any perceived danger every time. Instinct to protect at his own risk. We did not train him to do that, he's just a sweet, loving family pet (and 120+ lbs).

Been fostering for years and yes, plenty of worthless people around.
And no it's not only losers from up north. The South unfortunately has more than it's share of worthless pet owners.
Hence why all of our adopted pets head north.
