I’ll call the media and let them know that unless they can accurately predict a direct hit from a tornado on tigerinthebueche’s house, to please not bother everyone with these weather alerts. Apparently these other people’s lives that got fricked up by tornados overnight aren’t important.
Be real bro, if the media attention and school closures helped save even one person’s life it was worth it. Not everyone is a Chuck Norris mf’er like yourself.

I love how unless someone takes a direct hit from a tornado it's a complete wash with these systems. Just be thankful it isn't you who woke up with a damaged home or business this morning.

There were multiple tornadoes at the same time in and around Alec last night before I went to bed

Are those people better off now because their town preemptively cancelled school for today at 8:00 last night? Was that the make or break for them on this being a TOTAL disaster?

How about power outages and road closures. These hit at night. You have t wait until daylight to assess damage. I see you are a moron too

Checking in a few miles north of picayune. Those storms were pretty intense for a hour or so. Just slacking off

Your local meteorologist is now a deep state, fake news MSM operative, too?!
Weatherman gives you percentages, not guarantees.
You people have lost it.

They had no idea how bad the storm was actually gonna be, just that it was gonna be pretty bad (which it was). Then, you have bus drivers trying to pick up kids at 5-7am in low light conditions with possible tornadoes moving through, and at least fast winds and hard rain.
It's a good precautionary measure to cancel school until everything can be assessed.
Eta: If yall have such a big problem with it, you could've just turned off your phones, computers, and not watched the news for 12hrs. Then, when a tornado came through, you'd be wishing you had that information

If a tornado comes through and wipes out a part of your town overnight, you think you’re going to be worried about getting your kids to school if the municipality didn’t preemptively cancel it?
Posted on 11/1/18 at 5:58 am to Y.A. Tittle
Maybe the bus driver picks up the kids on one side of town, and doesn't realize the other portion is destroyed. What does he do with the kids then? He can't just bring them back home

Some people call it the pussification of society, I just call it being more intelligent. Kinda like years ago when ironworkers walked on beams 100 stories up with no fall protection. Now we have safety nets and harnesses. There’s a reason why our life expectancy is 20 years longer than it was a hundred years ago...because most of us don’t do stupid shite like try to bring our kids to school during a tornado while dodging downed trees and power lines. Apparently there’s still a few of you though lol

Starting to hear minor damage reports come in around Ponchatoula just from straight line winds. Trees down, garage doors blown in

What about the teachers and bus drivers that would worry about losing their job if school was open and put themselves in a dangerous situation trying to get there for Tittle JR...only to get there and find out that you made the decision to keep your kid home and they put themselves in danger for nothing

Yeah, back in the day, before we became so enlightened, that happened all the time. I remember I lost my best friend to a tornado cause they decided not to cancel school preemptively.

Not much in Thibodaux. Wind about 20mph for about 5 minutes. Didn’t even lose DirecTV signal. Schools delayed start time for this crap
Ahh, everyone's favorite weather thread post - the guy who is pissed off it wasn't worse.

The system arrived earlier than forecasted, but had it been times when buses ran, fatalities would have occured here. It was that bad.
