Looking at some of the locations in New Orleans East, it looks like the new Eisenstein Charter school that just opened would be in the direct path... any reports from there?

Dang, that was about a mile from me. Power lines were hanging on the ground on Jefferson, and Entergy was working on Elmwood Park

My aunt lives one block from Einstein on Michoud and they are OK.

Some severe thunderstorms still coming from Thibodeaux. Nothing too intense. St. Charles parish will be affected soon.

We must be neighbors. What street are you on?

I live in Lions Street, right by Riverdale on the river side of Jeff Hwy, where are you?

shite, still no word, but I'm sure they're busy.

100% serious question, I need to get to Chef Hwy and Downman Rd. Is there a way to get down there from Northshore? Can go either Slidell or causeway if needed.

My office is on Dealers Ave. I was asking Hammertime since he said he was fairly close to the funnel cloud.

You can get there from Slidell but no idea what roads are currently closed

I got crapped on earlier for saying how the news around here wasn't being severe enough in the way they handled this.
The problem is that people around here aren't used to tornado events like this and in an effort to save lives they need to use very serious language and tones to alert the public. It's not enough to just say "put as many walls between you and the exterior of your home" in a very calm tone.
Just as the NWS did before Katrina, a severe language is a MUST to get the message through to the public that their lives are endangered.

It's a life and death situation
People should take heed to the warnings they get

Is the New Orleans storms heading toward Hattiesburg?
Posted on 2/7/17 at 1:10 pm to Mr. Hangover
Very much so, and I always end up having to text/call friends and family about it because they "had no idea this was happening".
I know that some people don't have access to tv/radio or don't like looking through clunky mobile sites to get info so I tried to use clear and plain language on here.
