In towns like Mayfield how do you even start? Where do you go? Chances are if you do have family there they have the same damage. No water. No electricity.
Where do you even start??

Hope this isnt a global warming post.
Yeah, ‘cause that’s clearly not happening.
Dumbass. How can a thread on an event science predicted three days ago have so many science deniers?

Sounds like the town of Bremen, KY got hit hard as well. Guy over on UK board on rivals who lives there is saying at least 10 casualties so far.

The devastation is just unreal.

Global Warming is a political term designed to get yall to argue and divide.
The term you are looking for is Climate Change... Scientific.
The Earth has gone through it several times before, there is no reason to believe it is not now and wont again...

This event has little to do with global warming/climate change. December tornado outbreaks are quite common in that part of the country.

Winter tornadoes are not unprecedented—there’s a reason we call it the “Second Season.” What is unprecedented is the increasing frequency and severity. What are the Gulf SSTs right now? Where did that beast last night get all its energy? Welcome to the new normal. LINK

As someone who grew up in NE Arkansas, this is true...

What an outbreak (I guess it counts as an outbreak? Just haven’t seen the word used yet) that was
Prayers for so many who were effected, things were looking very grim in multiple places when I finally went to sleep at about 4 am

What is a legit local organization that’s helping SAR, basic needs, recovery, etc? Friends here in Denver are from Mayfield. Their family and friends so far are still known to survive, but lost everything as many others did. Just looking for the right place to donate and help from afar without going through Red Cross’s BS.
ETA: they’re texting pics in our friends chat group from their friends back home and it’s unreal. Reminds me of the Windsor, CO aftermath.

I’ve seen a lot of groups setting up right now but they’re trying to allow first responders to get in before sending things down for obvious reasons.

Give me a hurricane that usually carries at least a 72 hours advance notice any day over violent tornado outbreaks

They say that same shite about hurricanes and it has been disproven multiple times.

If you're in the hurricane risk zone, you'll deal with both and like it! No choice.
Edited for dumb thumbs

Yea negative on that. As beautiful as parts of Alabama may be, I would never live there and deal with both. In fact, I am planning on leaving SWLA for good soon too.

Post the evidence, thanks........

That's the thing, it's completely unprovable. Population density changes and radar technologies, you can't just say this crap didn't happen 200 years ago. They had no idea when it did happen.

I love my area of Alabama, but I also only live in an area that deals with tornadoes and not hurricanes. The tornado response and detection systems we have in north Alabama are basically the best in the nation as well.
That being said: if it wasn't for family and a sense of community / friends I have in this area I would have moved away long ago.

I'll be donating to Samaritan's Purse. From what I have seen firsthand, they are usually quick on the scene and stay behind long after others are gone.
