Apparently, Bowling Green got hit hard too. WKU has cancelled graduation ceremonies today.
Two tornadoes touched down there. The Corvette plant was/is on fire and the roof collapsed. Several reports of casualties and neighborhoods leveled.

Not really the kinds of records you want to see broken. The Mayfield, KY tornado has lofted debris over 30,000 feet into the air. That's among the most intense ever record.

283mph gate to gate velocity at 5,000 feet above the ground in MO near Caruthersville, making this the strongest tornadic gate to gate couplet in Doppler radar history. Previous was a tie between Greensburg KS 2007 EF5 and Tuscaloosa AL 2011 EF4 at 280mph. So far hit 3 states.

frick The Weather Channel. There are people dying and other concerned viewers want to know what is going on during this severe weather outbreak, and they are showing some longform programming show about truckers driving through snow.

frick them. They used to be better than that.

6 hours later.

Doesnt go live again til 5am

Wife’s family from Murray, KY checked in. They are scared shitless but happy to only have power out. Said it’s horrific.

What a terrible night. Prayers to all those suffering through loss right now… especially this time of year.. very sad.

At least 50 feared dead in Kentucky as tornadoes strike swaths of U.S.

quote:

"We believe our death toll from this event will exceed 50 Kentuckians and probably end up closer to 70 or 100 lost lives," he said. "We will make it through this," he added. "We will rebuild, we are strong, resilient people."

I’m in Spring Hill. Nothing of significance. Good rain with thunder and lightning. Worse part of the storm was just to the north of Nashville. The Hill and Thompson’s Station area are good.

Never thought we were going to see a tornado yesterday like the “Quad-State” tornado. Just absolutely incredible and tragic. Prayers out for all of those people. Just saw James Spann say they think there are over 100 dead.
