If you start picking out pixels, you can get 244mph gate-to-gate on that rotation right now. And that is right around 30 miles from the radar at around 1,800 feet. Jesus.

tornado reflectivity has dropped... but might just be b/c it went over a lake and dropped the debris in the lake while not picking up any new debris

will have to wait until it's back over land to see if the debris signatures come back

Mesoscale Discussion 2000
NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK
1000 PM CST Fri Dec 10 2021

Areas affected...portions of far eastern Texas into far southern
Arkansas...northern Louisiana and far western Mississippi

Concerning...Tornado Watch 555...

Valid 110400Z - 110530Z

The severe weather threat for Tornado Watch 555 continues.

SUMMARY...The severe threat persists across southern portions of
Tornado Watch 555. An additional Tornado Watch issuance is likely
farther east into Louisiana, far southern Arkansas and far western
Mississippi.

DISCUSSION...A relatively robust line of storms has recently become
established across far northeastern Texas and is progressing
eastward into a moist, buoyant airmass. At the moment, these storms
just south of Tornado Watch 555 are in a kinematic environment
characterized by strong speed shear, but with modest veering in the
low-levels per latest SHV VWP. However, the storms will progress
farther east into northern LA/southern AR and western MS, in closer
proximity to the LLJ axis. As such, the threat for all severe
hazards (including isolated tornadoes) is expected to increase with
these storms with eastward extent. Since Tornado Watch 555 expires
in an hour, a new downstream Tornado Watch issuance will be needed.

Nelson Tucker
@TornadoStudy
283mph gate to gate velocity at 5,000 feet above the ground in MO near Caruthersville, making this the strongest tornadic gate to gate couplet in Doppler radar history. Previous was a tie between Greensburg KS 2007 EF5 and Tuscaloosa AL 2011 EF4 at 280mph. So far hit 3 states.

I am really, really happy to see this, and I hope they issue it sooner rather than later. We do not need people thinking this threat is over.

Y’all this tornado that hit Mayfield could be the storm of the century.

Like could be a another tri state tornado.

I’m terrified to learn the fate of Mayfield, Kentucky.
