Torn meniscus surgery. How long before you were back on your feet?

Doctor says I can hold off on surgery for now unless the pain gets too unbearable.
How long were you off your feet and not able to go back to work?

Had both cleaned up at different times. Gimped around the next day. Walking around within 3. Back to normal in a week.

they say 6-8 weeks, but really you won't be ready until mid-January

Few hours, maybe 3.5 or so

Same experience as this.
Also, PT really helped me.

Next day.
I asked the doc how long till I could walk. He said the sooner the better, so I said "you're telling me there is no way I can hurt anything walking around" and he assured me I was good to go.
Had the surgery Friday and was throwing the football in the yard with my kids by Sunday.
FYI. No PT for me. My wife asked about PT and doc said "a big muscular guy like him won't need it." My wife just rolled her f'ing eyes.
ETA: My wife had hers done a year or 2 before me and the same doctor told her she needed to lose a few pounds. She thought he was the greatest doctor in the world until he told me what he did. We walked out of there and she called him a male chauvinist pig.

It’s the easiest orthopedic surgery recovery. You’ll be back to working at McDonald’s in 2-3 days

I'm a PT. Are they wanting to repair or just clean it up? Big difference in rehab between the two. Repair is no weight bearing for 6 weeks then rehab afterwards. Clean up is walking immediately and therapy next day. Should be back to normal within 2-3 weeks at most. May not have to miss any work depending on what you do.

Tore mine over the summer. Didn’t need surgery but it took a solid 2 months before I could resume my normal workout routine

I don't know about meniscus surgery so I don't have much to contribute other than I had elbow surgery a year ago and am still not 100% back to what I was before. Elbow surgeries are a BITCH.

In all seriousness unless you’re a young athlete they aren’t going to repair it. They will go in and shave it up and the recover is a lot easier. If you’re in your 20s and they repair that’s a whole different ballgame

Had a good bit of my lateral meniscus removed 17 years ago. Was on crutches for a couple of weeks.
Just make sure you take your PT seriously to help mitigate growth of scar tissue.
If there was a good, easy surgery to have, this is it.

When I got home from the surgery, I got on a tractor and started disking. Real sore next day but I was good.
