We were older (38 her, 41 me) so you would think we would not be so scared....nope.

A few days after we brought babygirl home we had to go the doc for a hearing test. Wife couldn't breast feed and we were worried she wasn't getting enough to eat and losing weight. When they didn't weigh her at the appt, we went to the hospital to find a newborn scale.

When we said we were worried she wasnt eating enough the people at the hospital thought we were poor or something and sent us home with like a months worth of premixed formula bottles.

Score!

To took my first bath since I was 7yrs old. Like everyone said the emotions were everywhere. Excited, scared, nervous, proud.

My first thought was, "Man, I hope my wife doesn't find out."

I felt like this was my destiny, to become a loving father. I adore my kids, they're good people.

I was dating my sons mother, for 3 yrs, when we found out she was pregnant. The day I found out, I was going to break up with her but it didn't quite go that way. We both met up because she had something to discuss as well. When I ordered a pitcher of beer, she said she was not drinking and that's when I knew something was up. She wanted me to go first but I insisted she tell me what she wanted to say and the rest is history. I was in shock, at first, but I wouldn't want to have it any other way. We wound up breaking up when he was 5 mos old but we remain good friends till this day and have a beautiful son together. She still doesn't know I was going to break up with her because when she asked what I wanted to discuss, I simply made up some BS and drank the pitcher.

You're so screwed. Go buy her flowers, a nice card. Take her to dinner and tell her how happy you are.

Maybe then she won't kill you for a lack of positive reaction.

Get back to me in about 7 months.

In Lamaze class when they tell you to get in their face if she isn't breathing right......DON'T DO IT!!!!!

I was working on my computer at the house and my wife called my name, trying to see where I was. She entered the room, said my name, I looked up. She had a nervous look on her face and said "I'm pregnant."

I was working a shitty job that I knew I didn't want to be at for much longer. My balls dropped through the floor. Then, a voice inside my head said "Don't say anything stupid."

I just stood up and said "That's great babe!" We hugged and then didn't talk to each other for 2 hours while we tried to process it.

Just go ahead and pay for the epidural. Save you and the wife the trauma.

I was excited. but like most said, it was an Oh shite moment.

But for both of my boys, had normal, passive responses to finding out that my wife was pregnant.

When they were born, had pretty differing emotions.
