Life is about balance. Finding your balance with alcohol means not consuming it before a work day. A real man doesn't put in jeoparady the money he needs to earn for himself or his family.
Life is about moderation. You should be able to have a couple pours and be completely functioning 100% the next day. Now, you obviously shouldn’t get shithoused on a weekday, but a couple pours is not going to put your job in jeopardy.

To O.P. -
I'm proud of you. Your story is similar to mine.
I never stopped smoking/drinking until I witnessed 3 people die at the hands of a drunk driver.
Your life changes instantly.
Great decision, sir!

Protip: drink a glass of water before passing out. It helps with the feminine urge to bitch about how you feel

I transitioned off the bottle with N/A beer and mocktails. Give it a try.

AA saved my life man. Grab the big book and open up a new chapter brother .. there are some of us unfortunate bastards with no off switch. One isn’t enough and 16 isn’t too many. Drinking isn’t inherently bad. I’d never say that or judge anyone. For me it’s a no go and something I’m powerless over. frick it man. I don’t miss it anymore
All of this.
I 100% will say that AA saved my life. I was on a really fricking slippery slope to losing it all. Like on the edge of the Grand Canyon and a feather could have knocked me off the edge.
I tried to quit so many times on my own, but couldn't. I tried to control it, but couldn't. Because correct, one is too many and never enough for me. I never thought I understood what it meant to be powerless over alcohol. I was just always like you're not powerless, you're the one picking it up. Until someone explained it as being unable to "stay stopped" and then it clicked.
I thank God every day that I didn't get the support I needed at home and crawled my way into the room of AA where people actually cared and wanted to help. They didn't test me to see if I could quit, they didn't tell me they liked me less now, they didn't say they were punishing me for my mistakes. They said to come back, and I didn't have anything else to lose so I did. Never looked back, best decision of my life.
Literally every single thing in my life is better. But be prepared, your sober life may not go as planned. It may not save that marriage you were working at, or fix your life immediately. But be patient, and put in the work and it is so worth it.
I'm a firm believer in the big book, it answered a lot of questions about my brain, and finding likeminded people to talk to and not feel judged makes it an enjoyable life.
Went to a great speaker meeting tonight. 8 months, 8 day for me.

That's impactful!
I was gone, but some how reeled myself back in.
I listen to the Sunny Side podcast about ' Mindfull Drinking'
It's an eye-opener

Blessed I saw AA work on my dad.
Not blessed I got his genes, because I really like wine.

Weed is my vice, has been for a long time. Yeah I can live without it, but I just don't want to... I dose about every day just to have a better mood and it keeps away depressing thoughts.. The comedown always sucks for a day or two.
You do the real stuff rather than Delta 9 gummies? I like they way Delta 9 makes me feel, hopefully can try the real stuff soon.

Come on in. The water's fine.
(I don't drink because I'm trying to maintain my weight and BP.)

Good for you, man. Nothing wrong with drinking.
Don't let anyone make you think there is something wrong with not drinking.
My wife doesn't drink. I rarely do. I drank more when I was 16 than I did at 30 or now at 46. I do enjoy a gummy every now and then, but I stay home and watch a funny movie.

I can't drink alcohol at all because I was told that I have cirrhosis. I feel fine and so far I haven't had any problems. I was never a fall down drunk but I usually drank two drinks before going to bed. I have insomnia and the two drinks helped me fall asleep. When I was told what I have I just thought to myself there is nobody to blame but me. The doctor never gave me a prescription or medicine to help me. He told me never to drink alcohol again. I haven't touched a drink in over a year and I never felt any pain.
