Good to know. If she’s smart enough to have the correct political mindset, surely she has to know her business can flourish as well or better in Old Metairie or other parts of Jefferson. Best of luck to her, but it’s going to get worse…far worse.

All of the odds…….

Nah, those young people dont vote

In NOLA it wouldn’t matter anyway and only 28% of registered voters voted in the last mayoral election

You realize Foster switched parties in the mid 90's and won as a Republican right?

North La got pissed one time due to dirt slinging and South La did the other time. Southern Democrats didn't elect JBE, fragile Catholics and Baptists did.

Yes, that was my point. A lot of 'Democrats' were still shifting alliances then. Murphy being one.

Like you said, go back to the civil rights era would be before the full change over. Hence the comment, your daddy's daddy voted them democrats into office.

Democrats ruin police departments.

When St Tammany So has an opening, they have a ton of applicants while NOPD can't even get qualified candidates to apply

I agree, the St Tammany job is probably more appealing from a candidate standpoint. Would be worth the pay cut.

The NYPD guy who came in a few months ago pointed out reevaluating candidates who were rejected. So I looked at disqualifiers.

quote:

MASTER DISQUALIFICATIONS

Been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to any Felony

Been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to any Misdemeanor involving any crimes against person or sexual offenses

Been convicted of, pled guilty or nolo contendere to, any offenses involving violations of the civil rights of any person under the constitution or laws of the United States or any state or territory

Used any illegal drug other than marijuana within ten years prior to application

Sold, distributed, manufactured, or transported any illegal drug

Used any prescription drug or legally obtainable substance in a manner for which it was not intended within two years prior to application (within three years prior to application for P.O.S.T. applicants)

Been dishonorably discharged from any military service

Been terminated or forced to resign from any law enforcement agency for disciplinary reasons

Refused to submit to a polygraph examination and/or voice stress examination

An unacceptable driving record within five years of application, as evidenced by, three or more negligent collisions; suspension for moving violations; revocation, or operating after suspension/revocation of driving licenses; DWI or DUI convictions

The New Orleans Police Department has a strict personal appearance standard. Please review the policy in its entirety.

Most are no-brainer DQs. But you are basically DQ'd for smoking weed as a teen/young adult.

Not to mention charges like fighting or such, which yeah, should be pretty self evident, but these are cops we are talking about.

I don't think it is a pay cut. I do know Gulfport and Biloxi pay more than NOPD. NOPD officers make their money on details, not working for the PD

That's an interesting point. If the NOPD is at 50% capacity but getting funding for a full agency, where is all the money going? Kind of like how they closed the schools during the Pandemic but our taxes stayed the same.

It's weird how we have no right to question where our taxes go or demand the services we pay for.

I said you'd need to more than double your range. You used a republican governor as rebuttal. Now you are pointing to pre civil rights.

I'm sure in your head your point is coherent, but your points in this thread are all over the place. Not that hard to see how it's hard to follow with the two examples above.
