I can't imagine the clientele that will inundate this Top Golf.
20-45 year olds middle/upper middle income people. Mostly in small groups. Some company outings will be mixed in.
Before site selection even begins, they pay a lot of money for experts to tell them where there are untapped markets and where prime placement would be.

Funny thing about that. Six or seven years ago when Top Golf was really coming onto the scene, I had a close friend who is a PGA Professional approach them at a trade show to discuss putting one in Baton Rouge. I had a group of investors that were interested and we felt that having an actual PGA Pro as the manager would be helpful.
Their corporate did some "background studies" on Baton Rouge and their paid experts said NO. They said Baton Rouge didn't fit their demographic profile and that they were not then and would not in the future be interested. I guess management changed.

Either that, or they built 25 more locations since then and have the capital and name recognition to go to markets that were once not their best option.

Since then, they have opened smaller locations in places like Oklahoma City, Birmingham, Pittsburgh, and now Baton Rouge.
The economy also got substantially better in the past 6 years.

Pretty safe assumption that this was one of those million dollar handshake type deals.
No business in their right mind would see this as a potential long term investment

It’s amazing to me that people act like they do on here when shitting on cities in their supposed home state.
Constantly complain and then complain when good things happen. It’s truly pathetic.

There's a nearly 40k student university and a mid market city that's bringing in technology jobs and growing.
What do you do for a living? I'd like to know before I judge your opinion.

Their experts must post on TD because the Texas people here always reamed people when they asked about Baton Rouge getting a Top Golf one day.

The fact that you think college students are going to keep this thriving says all I need to know about your ignorances
Too funny

They passed on New Orleans.
There are about 850K people in the Baton Rouge metro. They will draw a little from southern Mississippi, Lafayette, New Orleans, and the north shore as well.
They actually have a decent catchment area. If Baton Rouge was sort of by itself in the middle of nowhere like OKC or Memphis, I would be skeptical. There are a decent sized small to mid sized cities within 90 minutes of Baton Rouge.
TopGolf is also Baw-tastic. There are a lot of people that fit their target audience in south Louisiana.
I could see them opening locations in Pensacola, Memphis, and maybe the Mississippi coast.

starts off great. hires local talent. goes to shite. closes. stays empty for years. becomes a storage place.

If anything, the blue collar people with money will probably keep TopGolf printing money in Louisiana.
I hope their parking lot can fit all those diesel Denali and King Ranch pickups trucks.

I just find it amazing that you think br doesn’t have enough of the $30 thousand dollar millionaire Instagram crowd that will flood this place like the same people do in other smaller cities

It will do fine.
The one in Birmingham does well and BR is relatively close in size with NOLA and Lafayette an hour away.
