I'm thinking he took 85 (exit 56) down to the recently opened mid bay bridge connector. This bypasses niceville and brings you directly to the toll booths on the bridge.

The connector road has a camera toll and does not have manned booths. There are signs all over notifying you of the toll.

Yes, you can tell it's an Altima, but certainly can't make out the license plate from the picture. I'm sure that doesn't matter.

I don't know the Hwy numbers I took, I'm sure I took the connector they're talking about, I just followed Google Maps GPS Directions.

The whole taking a picture and sending a toll does seem dumb to me. What if someone borrowed my car?

Incorrect. The only times I passed actually toll booths, I went to the cash lanes and paid to go through.

pretty sure somewhere on your statement, it says something to the effect of "the owner of the vehicle is..." no question it's a money grab, but call them up, politely inquire, and see where it goes

It's a legit toll. I travel from LA to the Destin area at least one a month and that new road is worth more than the toll they charge.

What did the envelope look like? We went down there a few weeks ago and I don't want to throw away the bill and get a later one charging me $100 for none payment.

Unless it is a 75 zone all the way down, 331 is a nice drive over the old bridge and about 5 miles out of the way. Not sure how they could cut in a road that would save more than a few minutes unless they open up the speed limit a good bit.

I would call to clear it up. If they give trouble, I would request video.

Depends on where you are going. The new road bypasses all of niceville and it's red lights. Saves about 10-20 minutes.

331 is good depending on where you are headed. If going west of mid-bay bridge that's a terrible option. If going to Santa Rosa it's a better option.

My house is in Santa Rosa but usually have to stop in Miramar on my way in, so 331 makes no sense.

331 also makes no sense for any going from Miramar to Okaloosa Island. If your trying to avoid a few dollars in tolls, you probably shouldn't be taking a vacation in the first place.

we're typically either at Seaside or Sandestin. Rarely stay on the other side of the bridge.

Probably so. I am sure he is not the first and won't be the last. He should just go ahead and pay. Don't want that hanging around on your record if you ever get pulled over for something else. Might encourage the trooper to give you a hard time or shoot your dog or something.

Yes, I was going to mention the route may have had two tolls. We passed through the first one and I thought "this is cool, I'll just pay later". Then like 5 miles later, 3 more Bucks. I went the cheap way home through Pensacola.

Note: haven't received auto bill yet and I went in mid may.

I also received a bill for the same thing. Here's the deal. I paid cash. I refused the receipt. The cashiers at the toll booth are pocketing the cash. Get a receipt next time, I will.

The toll road is a separate charge from the $3 bridge toll. They just send you a bill in the mail. LINK You drove on the connector to the mid bay bridge.
