The Advocate
IBM scraps plans for contact center that would have employed 'several hundred' in Baton Rouge

quote:

IBM has scrapped plans for a customer contact center in Baton Rouge, nearly two years after first unveiling the potential project at the same time the tech giant was being granted an extension of time by the state to fill 800 jobs on a separate project.

quote:

That facility was linked to a contract where the client has changed their requirements considerably and no longer has a need for the capability that the facility would have supported

quote:

The company fell well short of that 800-job goal when it came due in 2017, employing 572 at the deadline. Instead of trying to claw back the tax breaks already paid, Edwards’ administration struck a revised agreement with the company, giving it until mid-2019 to create the 800 jobs and increasing penalties if it fell short again.

So IBM failed to meet their end of the bargain in 2017 and now it is together BR's fault?

I don't see TogetherBR mentioned as a reason for IBM not completing the call center.

The article you linked says IBM's client that the call center was being built for no longer needs the call center.

Fake news on your part??

I'm pretty ignorant on this but didn't IBM fail to meet their end of the deal for previous tax breaks anyways? TogetherBR is some bullshite but is this even their fault?

glad to see I'm not the only one questioning this

This. TogetherBR is nothing but a grouping of like-minded economically short-sighted nitwits, but I don't see how they are responsible for IBM's shortcomings.

Sounds like TBR had nothing to do with it...

Yeah. I abhor those fricktards at TogetherBR, but this does not seem to be their fault.

i love how everyone is focusing on the TogetherBR portion and not that BR is losing more potential jobs.

This has to be some reverse propaganda to create some sympathy for TogetherBR by blaming them for something unconnected to them.

I'm all for taking a giant shite right in TogetherBR's mouth any time they open it, but I fail to see how this is their fault.
