My youngest is not even 2, and she can get out if you don’t tighten the straps well enough.
Now you just have to teach her how to break the window without calling 911 and she'll be ready for motherhood.

You don’t a think a 3 year old is smart enough to realize, “hmmm, sitting in this car seat for days sucks, imma get the frick out of here” ?

You really think a 3 year old had the cognitive skills to think " Hmm I need to get out of this safety seat and find help for me and my sibling?"
I think after a couple of hours at most the kid understands things aren't normal and tries to get out.

Kylen Holliman, the toddler.

for surviving an accident?

Also, here's another couple of questions I have
The mother was ejected, the 1 year old was strapped into a car seat and the 3 year old was somehow wandering around.
Is the 1 year old the only one who had a safety device And if not, how did the 3 year old manage to get out of his seat?

I feel like you might be retarded
Looks like I was beaten to this conclusion

I'll take "Stupid fricking Questions for $800, Alex."
I mean, are you fricking serious?
Obviously the kid had the sense and the ability to get out of the seat.
What else do you think happened? Do you think the carseat failed and the child somehow survived that?
Either you don't know many kids, or you underestimate them. Did the child think he needed to get out to save his sibling? Probably not. Did he think "man, this seat sucks, I'm getting the hell out of here"? Probably so. Did he think, "man, I'm hungry", or "man, I need to go find an adult because I'm scared out of my freaking mind"? Possibly.

Apparently that 3 year old did.

I know my kids could have at 3. Hell, probably before then if they had to. You must not have kids.

Yeah on his cheeks. Not sure if it's from the crash or from walking around in the woods. Probably a bit of both.

Or possibly he was getting tired of sitting in and smelling his own poo. That's possible.
Seriously, it's really sad that these kids are now without their mother and, I have to assume, it's all because she chose not to wear a seatbelt. Thank God she strapped them in at least semi-properly. I see so many people driving around with young children in their car improperly retrained (or not at all) that it just infuriates me. Hopefully neither of them will remember any of this.

I imagine that the mosquitoes teed off on them after dark. It had to have been miserable.

Hopefully the three year old hasn't passed that stage where you actually remember these things.

Incredibly sad story but glad they survived!

You’d be surprised the cognitive abilities any human can have in a situation under stress. Some kids wouldn’t make it, but some are extraordinary. These 2 kids are obviously tough fighters

what is really sad is that nobody reported any of them missing.
