The shooting happened Tuesday afternoon in Merrillville as the girl, a 1-year-old boy and her mother waited in the car while the woman’s boyfriend was inside the store. Police say the man is the girl’s father and apparently left the loaded gun in the car.

loaded gun...some people are so fricking stupid. If I have a loaded gun in my vehicle...with a bullet chambered, thats the first thing I think of when I know toddlers will be in the car. Thats just not something I overlook

What’s the condition of the mom and baby?

And a 3-year-old, 1-year-old, and pregnant again? C’mon man, you need to up your pullout game.

Some people just don't have the situational awareness to prevent stuff like this.

Most triggers pull so hard a three year old shouldn’t be able to do it.

Was it cocked and then dropped?

This is why I have my CCP so that my gun is always on my person rather than somewhere that someone else would have access.

Agree and those folks do not need to have a gun around

I agree. I'm wondering where she was hit. Can't be good for the baby.
