Ok. Pew Research disagrees with you. I included 1997 but they say 1996.

First of all, there are no official or set criteria for when Generations begin and end. It's not like there's some government agency that puts out a report on this shite. Every writer, publication and person defines the generations differently.
Second of all, what really matters is how you largely view the behavior and characteristics of any one age group. I can tell you without a doubt that the people I know that are in their mid thirties are way, way different in just about every observable and measurable way from how most people describe millenials.
There's a hard line somewhere in the early to mid 80s birth year where a serious difference develops into adulthood. Not sure what caused it but I'm not the only one who's noticed it. Look up 'XY cusp generation'.
Part of it could just be Regional. I'm speaking from my experience here in Louisiana which is 10 to 20 years behind the rest of the country so it's possible that people born in the 80s in Louisiana that most people in the rest of the country would call Millennials, are actually more like gen-xers.

That's quite a diatribe to explain why you aren't a millennial baw

Well, yeah. That’s kind of the problem. There are millennials who hate millennials and they don’t even know they’re millennials.
This is me 100%. I was born in the late 80s and people like my brother who were born in the mid 90s are retarded.

I’ve read recently that a good barometer if you’re a millennial if you remember 9/11 but we’re too little to remember the Challenger Explosion.
Also, you can’t claim to be Gen-X just because you don’t want to be a millennial. It’s a time frame, not a feeling.

You’re still a millennial. Stereotypical one at that trying to identify as something you aren’t.

Every time I see the word "millennial" I replace it with "Adult under 40".

Because yall are focusing on whether or not a 17 year old is a millenial, when the point of the story was that it was funny that the burglar asked for the wifi password (which is a stereotypical millenial thing to do).
