Spring is starting a little earlier than usual this year. March 19 at 11:06 p.m. ET will mark the vernal equinox for the northern hemisphere, when the sun's energy is in balance between the northern and southern hemispheres, according to National Weather Service. The season typically changes on Mar. 20th or 21st.

I’ll take it even though I had frost on my windshield this morning
Just give me some sunshine

We bottomed out at 25° early this morning. Considering we've been running well above normal for the month so far, that felt a whole lot colder than it actually was.

The Vernal (Spring) Equinox is the beginning of the Solar New Year celebrated around the world in various countries...

May all of you have a joyful and prosperous New Day...

I don't go by the traditional way of viewing seasons. To me fall is football season, winter is basketball, spring is baseball, and summer is just shite and the dead time of sports

Fun fact:

Despite today being the equinox meaning “equal night” the day and night length are not equal today.

They were equal back on March 16th this year and will not be equal again until September 25th.

The reason they don’t line up with the changing of the seasons is because of how we define “sunset.” Sunset is defined as when the entirety of the suns disk slips below the standard horizontal plane. If the definition was changed to “half of the sun’s disk” then the equinox and 12 hour day/night would actually line up.

Spring starts when my allergies start going crazy. So about a month ago. I mean, stuff’s been springing for a while now.

Not it's not... Starts tonight at 10pm. So technically, tomorrow is the first day of Spring.

I enjoy the 6-7 weeks or so of spring that we have, but it always means that 4.5 months of swamp arse is just around the corner.

Nice to turn the corner into spring and summer. Also, pagans and druids everywhere are observing the equinox.

During leap years, the extra day on Feb. 29th 'pushes' the first day of spring up by one day on March's calendar.

Without the leap day, first day of spring would have been (tomorrow) on March 20th this year.
