One of the best posts and entire threads I ‘ve read in a very long time. The one that gets me every time and turns me all misty eyed (other than Tim McGraw’s “My Little Girl”) is this one:
Butterfly Kisses - Bob Carlisle

My throat tightens a bit every time I hear the songs, "I Loved Her First" and "My Little Girl".
If I had a daughter, I wouldn’t be able to listen to Butterfly Kisses without losing my shite. Gets me a little misty already.

My daughter is almost 3, it's a fun time. Went on vacation couple weeks ago and plane was delayed on runway - my wife used the bathroom and as she's walking back my daughter yells from our seats "Mom did you just drop a deuce?"
fricking classic they soak up everything you say and bust it out when you least expect it.
Also I'm not all bent out of shape over her dating one day like a lot of the weirdo evangelical puritan guardians on here. Part of life shite happens just trying to raise her to be strong and make her own choices in life.

Got two of each. The boys are easy, I can handle them roughly, teach 'em right from wrong, and only had two penises to worry about. My girls, I tried to show them every day what a man should do for them, but I still had to worry about all the other penises....

Original take, never heard that one before

Good post.
I have three daughters and all three are completely different from each other.
Oldest was an athlete and the epitome of the stereotypical blonde.
Middle was an underachieving brain who made me trade in my coaching cap for a band booster shirt.
Youngest is in independent overachiever who always comes to me with projects and awards. She’s also the most expensive.
And then I have a son who I should have just named Bobby Hill.

Everything she sees, she says she wants
Everything she wants, I see she gets
That's my daughter in the water
Everything she owns, I bought her
Everything she owns
That's my daughter in the water
Everything she knows, I taught her
Everything she knows
Everything I say, she takes to heart
Everything she takes, she takes apart
That's my daughter in the water
Every time she fell, I caught her
Every time she fell
And that's my daughter in the water
I lost every time I fought her
Yeah, I lost every time
Every time…
Everything she wants, I see she gets
That's my daughter in the water
Everything she owns, I bought her

Great post. My daughter is only 4 months old but I already think about having to give her away one day.

my daughter just married, a good guy, my wife says he`s a carbon copy of me as a 25 year old in mannerism, maybe there is a lot of truth that daughters are predetermined to look for their dads in a husband, so don't screw her up with a bad example.

quote:That's how females are, basically insane from birth. I grew up with all brothers so when I we had two daughters I remember asking my wife if something is emotionally wrong with them. Hot and cold, best friends with kids then not, acting like I'm being mean to them etc.... My wife laughed and said no that's normal girl behavior.
Anybody else on here with daughters only experience this type of situation?

Mine's 22 (no pics) and still more concerned with finishing her education (medicine) than finding Mr. Right. I pity the boy who marries her, he better like to fish, hunt, and take orders.
