Before that, does anyone remember Don Kirschner's Rock Concert?
That was deep in the 70s, IIRC.
Pre-MTV, I remember Friday Night Videos, but does anybody else remember Night Flight on USA?

I strongly recommend a rewatch of Dallas. That is an 80s nostalgia masterpiece, warts and all. Man, a lot of these shows were pretty raunchy too.

Yeah, Night Flight. I do remember that. My dad didn't get us cable so if I wanted to watch it, I slept at one of my friends house and catch it there.

There is a show on Netflix called "Why the 80's were the most Awesome Decade Ever" or maybe it's just "The 80's".
It goes a long way into the effects Dallas had on TV. It was the first time the entire free world was tuned into the same TV show. I forgot that just about the time for the Who Shot JR episode was about to come out, the writers went on strike. I think every kids ages 12-17 had one of those 3/4 sleeve baseball T's with "I Shot JR" on the front.
Getting T-shirts made at the mall was a pretty bid deal back then.

And then Dallas.
I got married the night they revealed who shot J.R.

I was a little kid then, but remember thinking Banner got pushed around and beat up a lot to be a grown man. I remember the premiere of Magnum P. I.

That is worse than a wedding on LSU vs. BAMA game day.

I rewatched on a whim and was actually surprised to see how great of an 80s example it was. The music, trends and style were just perfect.
Imagine living in the same house with your married with children family and having a formal family dinner every night. Weird.

I thought you'd identify more with Ray, banging a high school chick.
