Afraid they are done. Coast Guard is looking for debris. It was supposed to be a six hour mission and they had been gone for 72 hours when they asked for assistance this morning. We are helping Coast Guard making predictions on debris fields.

Welp they were already fricked, so I guess they might as well add gross negligence/depraved indifference to the bill. Who has jurisdiction over criminal offenses in international waters?

Watching a video of a guy who went on this sub on cnn on youtube. They are fricked. There is nothing they can do if they are stuck below that depth. Might as well bring a revolver with 1 in the chamber if you take this journey.

Why the hell would the go anywhere near the wreck? I guess visibility probably sucks so they have to get pretty close?

If contact was lost 1 hour 45 mins in on a 8 hour dive it seems hard to believe they would have been trying to go dangerously close. I read it goes 3 mph and they were down almost 2.5 hours so they had basically not been at the ship long?

How long does it take to travel down to the wreck? I seem to recall it taking a good while

If it takes 8 hours to descend and 8 more to ascend, how do you have a 6 hour mission?

Did they mean a 22 hour mission with 6 at the wreck?

Build the submersible for them. But the carbon fiber requirement and lack of adequate hull pressure monitoring caused us to leave.

That slick graphic someone posted a couple pages back contradicts this. I have no way of knowing which is correct, though.

Of course the OT has someone on the scene.

I don't know about the Texags link. Some of the info he gives doesn't line up with other info covered elsewhere. Some of the key features of the sub even conflict.

Watched another video from a news channel - interviewed some astronaut guy that is an advisor for this company. He is saying the private sector has people and assets standing by to assist with this but they are waiting on paper from the government side. He's talking about out of office replies on email and stuff like that - dude is pissed.

I kind of think the wreckage and lives lost aboard the Titanic should be honored by leaving it the hell alone.

They should just say frick it and proceed.

They bring everybody back alive, the little breach of protocol will be forgotten in the shuffle. It’s a case of where asking forgiveness is easier than asking permission.

People inside it probably had no idea what the frick happened before they died at that pressure. Be a lot better than drowning.

According to AIS tracking, the Skandi Vinland is also in the area. That’s a subsea construction vessel operated by DOF Subsea. Has multiple ROVs and a knuckle boom crane that could definitely resurface that sub if they can find it
