So my wife really wants to go see the musical Hamilton in NYC. I'm trying not to be a cheapskate, but tickets are like $1,000+ each. Does anyone have suggestions on how to get less expensive tickets? TIA

Be related to a cast member.

Take her to see jersey boys instead. It's great.

Just rent Straight Outta Compton. Pretty sure it's the same story.

His reign of terror is set to music for a couple of hours until the hero Burr blows his brains out and the nation rejoices.

There I just saved you a couple grand, you're welcome.

But if your wife is really into musicals about monsters, I'd suggest Little Shop of Horrors.

Take her to the opera instead. I don't understand the appeal of this show.

There is a lottery every day, but that's not going to be much use to someone planning a trip unfortunately.

Beyond that, doesn't look good.

Honestly, unless you know someone involved in the production you won't find cheaper tickets.

Suck it up and pay it. I've heard it's well worth it. It's going to become one of the top Broadway shows in history. Seeing it with the original cast will be memorable.

Same reason any runaway hit musical becomes a runaway hit, it's really well done and the music is great.

Thanks. It was a rhetorical statement.
