I did appliance delivery for a while and we never expected tips. Very few wealthy older people tipped us, and it was always a nice surprise.
Being offered a cold drink was way more common and always appreciated.

I did back last August. We had a new fridge and washer/dryer delivered on the same trip. After they wheeled it in I gave them each a $20 (two guys). After I did that they became much nicer, brought the stuff inside, put it where it went, hooked it up and made sure everything worked correctly.
I'll never know for sure, but I would bet that they would have left everything in my foyer had I not tipped them.

I bought a washer and dryer from Lowe's about 1.5 years ago. I got them to price match a lower price at Home Depot. I also pointed out that HD was free delivery and Lowe's was $79 delivery. They waived that as well.
After getting that waived and the guy set up everything for me I tipped him $10. It was not that much but I figured it would cover his lunch. I was happy to not have to set it up myself and I got free delivery. I still came out way ahead.
With all that being said, it's all up to you. If you paid for delivery I would not tip. If delivery was free and he sets up everything for you then tip him if you want.

I usually throw them a 10 spot each if they are on time and friendly. I had a furniture delivery where the store owner was a friend and hooked me up with free delivery, basically had the delivery guys add me on to the end of their route. He also significantly reduced the price of the stuff I bought, so I gave the 2 delivery guys 20 each.

If they bring it in and hook it up, yes. If they are simply dropping if off, eff no. When they delivered our washer and dryer, the delivery guy said it was too much of a liability for them to go into peoples houses nowadays, so they were required to leave it at the exterior door.

Of course I'm going to tip. These guys are doing heavy lifting in 100 degree heat for probably around $10-$12 per hour.
I just had a fridge delivered and gave the two guys $20 to split. I figured the least I could do was buy lunch for them.

I am the delivery manager where I work. They do delivery appliances in 100 degree heat and even in rain. They do not expect tips, and do not get them very often. They do appreciate it when they do. One of my older drivers, from a few years ago, told me someone was barbequing when they delivered appliances. The guy said he didn't have cash but wanted to tip them. Gave them each a plate of food for the road. You would think he tipped them (driver and helper) $100. I heard them bragging about that for a week.

As much as I hate tipping people (other than those making less than minimum wage - wait staff), I gave my appliance guy $10 a last summer. He was by himself, delivering and hooking up washer and dryer.

Someone lied to you. In the 5 years I have worked at Lowes, it is always free delivery and free haul away on appliances unless you live 100 miles away.
