I never went on a date from one of these sites expecting anything. I've met 8 women from online dating. 3 grossly misrepresented themselves and I excused myself as politely as I could. Of the other 5, four were down for anything immediately. The last of the 8 made me wait quite a few dates. We've been together for a little over 4 months now. There are some good people on the sites but to be completely honest, it is hard for a guy not to be a dog when it is getting thrown at him.

So they just tell you they want to screw you?

You're on a male-dominated message board here, of course the majority of the discussion is going to be about sex.

OkCupid lets you check off any of the four that you're looking for: long-term dating, short-term dating, hookup, and new friends. The women who have "hookup" checked off are clearly open to sex on the first date and aren't shy about it, however there are many other women who have "short-term dating and new friends" checked off which tends to mean they are open to sex on the first date but are shy about it.

I have never messaged a woman for any intention other than what they have had checked on their profile. I have also never messaged a woman with the sole intention of getting laid and absolutely nothing else. I'm a homebody with a small circle of friends, and I'm always looking for new people to go out and have fun dates with, and hopefully I get sex but I won't be upset if I don't. But since I am pretty picky about who I message in regards to personality, and less so when it comes to looks (I'd much prefer a fun fatty over a boring beauty), if I do end up meeting someone in person it's because I'm pretty sure we're compatible already, so that tends to lead to sex faster than people I've met in real life, whom I might not know that well by the time we're on the first date.

Some do, some don't. At least on OkCupid there are plenty of women who flat out explicitly state that they're not there for sex and if that's your intention then move on. But yeah, there are also plenty of women on there who use it to have the sex life they really want without being judged by society for trolling for dick in person.

interesting. I don't think anything but Match.com existed when I was single but I never heard of any friends signing up for it. I guess that makes it better if girls have the option to label their interest as long term, hookup, etc. I was just imagining these two people meet up for a date and at the end, the guy is like, "so we gonna frick at my place or yours?" and the girl being like What the hell?

I find that if the woman wants sex she will skip the going out part and will just want to hang out at her place or mine. The old “Netflix and chill” as they say, or video games and chill, smoke weed and chill, etc. If that happens I pretty much know I’m going to get laid although I remain lightly flirty until I know for sure. I don’t like to assume anything and put someone in an awkward spot.

I’m actually surprised at how many women are willing to meet at someone’s place first. It seems really dangerous. I used to try to invite women out in public first so they can get to see who I am first, but so many of them don’t even care.

On the other hand, if we choose to go out to dinner, a movie, etc. then I’ll just treat it as a traditional style date. I’ll ask her if she wants to hang out at my place afterwards and if she doesn’t she doesn’t.

That’s just me though. By the way women talk on these things it’s apparent there are a lot of a-hole men on there. But I think they mostly get weeded out in the early messaging stages because they send dick pics or overly sexually aggressive messages. I don’t think many of these guys are patient enough to wait until the end of the date to turn into an a-hole. They tend to use a “shotgun method” where they just copy and paste sexual advances to as many women as possible. If only 1/10 responds favorably, they still get laid, they don’t care if they piss off or disgust 9 other women in the process. So I totally understand why a lot of women get turned off by online dating. And although I’ve never used Bumble, I can see it being used by the more classy women because men can’t message women in there first. The women must initiate.
