Timeshare stories

So years ago when I was young and dumb I received a notice in the mail that I had won a free trip. I called to verify and they said I had to come in for a 30 minute tour of one of the timeshares and then I get to spin the wheel for my free trip with no obligations to buy but I have to come in. Great. I drive to the location and a smoking hot blonde comes out. We drive around in a golf cart looking at the property and just talking. Not a bad trip for me. On the way back to the office she asked what I though about the timeshare and I said it’s not a good fit for me at this point in my life. Instantly her demeanor changed. She said I needed to be more open minded. At the time I thought this was weird but it was just the start.

We go to this building that was really open inside with a ton of tables/chairs and is very loud from all the people sitting and talking. I sit at a table with the blonde and a fat man with a suit comes and sits in front of me. He starts going over the time share. I tell him politely that I was not interested and this is not for me. He pauses for a second and ignores what I said continues to talk, blah blah blah. I tell him no again and nothing. He keeps going. The blonde keeps chiming in how she can’t believe how closed minded I am and how I need to listen. I keep saying No but they won’t leave me alone. Being nice is not working. So I decide to be a smart arse. All of my answers are very sarcastic. Fatty is getting mad. I state that “I am just here for my free trip man.” Fatty snaps back “we can’t give free trips to everybody here or we will go bankrupt!” I say ”that is not my problem” and I lean back with my hands behind my head and say “How is the weather in Aruba this time of year” with a big smile on my face. Uhh ohh. Fatty’s head turns bright red and I think it is going to pop. He stands up and starts pacing while staring at me. Blonde rolls her eyes at me. I was thinking “WTF”. He sits back down and continues to grill me. Ok, this sucks and I am ready to leave. My last tactic to get of this is the “silence” approach. Yes, No, and “I don’t know” are my only responses for every question here on out. This actually works. Fatty finally gives up, shakes my hand, and gives me my paper to redeem my trip. The entire interrogation process took about 1 hour.

I go into another building and a young couple is in there. I ask if they joined and they said “no and that was exhausting.” I agreed. I spun the wheel and won a cruise to the Bahama’s. I still had to pay for my flight to Miami, food, drinks, tips, excursions, taxes....so my free trip was nothing more than a discounted trip and it was not worth it.
