It always amazes me when people who despise our state govt have absolute faith that they will only convict and put to death the people that are actually guilty.
Mainly people who dream about living in a police state while pretending to be conservatives on an internet forum
They don't trust the government to regulate businesses but they trust them to be an executioner

Serious question for you- how many dead innocent death penalty recipients are acceptable to you?
Serious answer, as few as humanly possible, while preserving the ability to put to death those who have earned execution.

Well, some of them are innocent
That is true. But how many are guilty and fighting the system and wasting tax payers money and still ruining lives of the victims families?
Not to mention how many muderers and rapist get off because of some loophole or some scummy defense attorney? They should limit the amount of appeals and time frame. It's a disgrace people wait on death row for 5+ years

Absolutely, even the innocent ones, yeah.

I agree everyone should be afforded due process. Hell I think cases where the death penalty is on the table, find a way to provide a decent lawyer not a public defender. I think you can keep the appeals in place but at the same time speed up the process. Limit the ammount of years, not ammount of appeals.
Fortunately with advancement with DNA processing and other technology we don't have to worry about that. I know many in prison got bent over because of lack of technology at the time.
Also those who admit guilt and the outcome is death. We shouldn't sit on them waiting for a good time to execute them.

I'm sorry I wasted your time..you know you didn't have to put your two-cents in if you thought the subject to be stale or not worthy of posting. Just remember, Jesus loves all creatures- even idiots like you!

They have to wait for the air conditioner lawsuit to be final.

While this is true in some cases, how many of these "wrongly convicted people" are true law abiding citizens?
Are they are simply a case of "Wrong place, wrong time", or mistaken identity; OR are they a person with criminal history?

Plus life imprisonment seems like a far worse fate in my view. I'd rather be killed that have to deal with max security for the rest of my life
Assaults against Staff in a prison are more likely to be committed by the guys with a life sentence.
They have nothing to lose.

Usually it's just jaded people who are tired of seeing all the crime around them, and criminals being released, only to reoffend. These people come to believe that if more criminals were killed it would deter future criminals, thus finally making a difference for the betterment of their community.

Im against the death penalty because I see it as the easy way out compared to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Thats the real punishment for me.
I don't believe you. You'd be plea bargaining for life just like all murderers do. Ever notice that no convicted murderers ever make a plea bargain to actually get the death penalty to escape that awful life in prison sentence?

Each time the death penalty is carried out, it is always a deterrent for at least one person
I assume you're talking about the person executed. If that's what you're talking about then a life sentence achieves the exact same thing from a societal standpoint without the possibility of killing an innocent person.

Are you purposefully ignoring the murders that happen in prison by convicted murderers, inferring that those killed in prison aren't innocent, or being purposefully obtuse?

This is a terrible analogy. Show me one person who has never broken a law.
Further, why should a person with a criminal history be put to death for a crime he didnt commit?
Pretty sure our founding fathers strongly disagreed with this idea.
