why not train the teachers and students for active shooter situations? they already train for fires and tornadoes.
the office i work for already has this type of training. we even have an intercom system that says, "John Smith, your needed in the Iverson Room." or something like that that alerts everyone that there's an active shooter. i'm all for door barricades, but is it enough? sometimes, you have to "run, hide, or fight".
we watch this video at least twice a year in active shooter trainings.

Most places already have training for a lockdown situation.
And all that is needed to barricade the do is is a simple wooden wedge and a hammer.

first I need to set up a consulting business as an LLC.
Then I need to get a minority DBE partner. Then make a donation to the right school board member so the specs for the RFP can be written just for me.
Then I get my no bid contract for $750,000. I realize the uninformed layperson sees the price of the wedges as being real cheap, but first an assessment and evaluation using my professional services has to be performed on each and every school. Then a report with recommendations. Then I have to meet with the school district's security and legal team.
With the best of luck, we can get those wedges in the schools within three, maybe two years.
