Exactly.
We have made schools soft targets, but insanely protect everything else.
Banning the AK/AR platform will do nothing. Killers will switch to rifle, carbines, and shotguns. Ban those and killers will switch to pistols. Ban those and killers will check down to the next option.
Don't change the tools since the killers will adapt. Instead,
- More focus on the killers-types up front. If the USA can design a computer model that can use social media to determine if a person can repay a loan or not, it should be able to figure out key characteristics of a possible school/mass killer.
- Change soft targets to hard targets. What Israel has done is really simple. Most of it is non lethal and a series of plans to BUY TIME for the real force to get there aka police. The simple stuff could be done within a year. If a school system wants to hire guards or train teachers/staff with fire arms, that is another option.
WTF has the Dept of Ed been doing since the 70s with all that money not to have schools with a better plan. Columbine in 1996 should have been the cowbell for the Dept of Ed to do something.

But don't dodge it. If you were inconvenienced for two months to reduce the likelihood of that 30th RD going through the tissue of some kid would you support it. Again, you're not giving up a single 2a right. And as the OP article expresses its all about giving kids more time to barricade/react.
Seriously. If not, give me a suggestion on how we give the authorities more time to do mental health evals. I really want hear a concrete ideas because a lot of what I'm hearing is that its the persons fault, which I agree. But how do we keep high capacity mags from the dumbfricks? Serious question.

Oh I don't think the idea is feasible at all from a cost stand point to retro-fit existing schools, but for new schools that are extremely large in wealthy school districts the idea has some merit for further study. I mean even just 5 or 6 doors that can cut off large areas from the gun man, could potentially save a lot of lives.

Absolutely. But you're talking about maybe 1% of schools? They do make relatively cheap barricade devices for different types of doors that would probably cost much less to install and are easier to implement in that type of situation.

Also, I think we should just arm the students. They're currently not allowed to have guns in school, and that's not working. If we make everyone a threat, no one will be a threat.
