Yep. Because I do doesn't mean I have to be closed minded. There has to be a give on both sides. All I'm saying is give the ATF or public health official like 60 days to look at a persons internet history, social media...type of a mental health eval before that can buy a high capacity mag. I as a responsible gun owner am not giving up a single right. I will still be able to buy my mag, I would be slightly inconvenienced for a couple of months. And true it will not solve the problem but it will decrease the LIKELYHOOD of that 30th bullet from going through the head of someone you or I care about. Its gives more time for mental screening and you are not giving up a single 2a right.

So just answer the question. For a two month inconvenience you only get to shoot your firearm with a 10Rd clip, then after two months you get your 30/60 but at the same time its saves one kids life. Would you support it?

Israel has always been in a position where they have to defend themselves. That's why they're always ahead of us. After 9/11 I heard an Israeli official talking about how a 9/11 situation would not happen there because of their airport security and the fact that they have fighters flying around at all times with orders to shoot down any aircraft that they suspect has been hijacked. Their school security is the same thing. They're forced to deal with people who want them wiped off the face of the Earth so they take whatever precautions necessary to ensure their survival.

It's also easier for them to enact these policies when their country is a fraction of the size of ours and their population is around 8.5 million to our 325 million.

It seems to me like we could build schools that could lock down sections with the press of a button. A police station could close heavy doors remotely while watching cameras from a remote location. They could lock the shooter in one place or prevent them from moving further into a school.

Locking dozens of students in with a gunman with no escape.

What could go wrong?

I think he means locking the students down in areas separate from the gunman... with the cameras they could isolate areas of the building based on the location of the shooter

I searched and found that there are almost 100,000 public schools in the U.S. It seems like a daunting task to retrofit that many schools with remote operated lockdowns. The cost would be insane plus the labor force necessary to perform that kind of work.

Letting a gunman walk around freely with hundreds of students that have no escape like we do now.

What could go wrong?

That's a great idea if every school was a multi-million dollar corporation. Where do you people think the money is going to come from for these ideas?

I think most new schools are being built in this manner. I know my at boys new school in FL I have to go through a que type of lobby and be buzzed in by security. Then I can only access the office.

Good point but we are constantly remodeling or rebuilding schools. Even a design with one door that could be remotley lcoked down that divides a school in half could possibly save hundreds of lives.

For the most part you are right. But if they were trained in some capacity for a situation like this then all it takes is for one brave kid to possibly defuse the situation or make a big difference. The gender equality shite needs to go out the window with this too, train the young men to be the aggressors.

If none this is feasible then at least give the teacher some type of self defense tool like a can of mace.

And like I’ve said a million times in this thread, school shootings don’t happen anywhere near as often to justify the cost on any of these solutions.

People should focus on stopping the ones that happen, not letting them happen but figuring out a way for shelter.

Earthquakes can’t really be prevented. It’s nature.

That's BS. My granmother has cameras around the outside of her house that I can access from the computer I'm typing on now. I can open her garage door or unlock a door in her house if paramedics need to get in with an app on my phone. It's not a new concept and it's not outrageously expensive.
