How do people STILL not grasp this? Someone who has been the victim of something egregious like sexual assault or severe sexual harassment is often reluctant to raise the accusations for a few reasons. One being that people like you will inevitably say they're lying no matter when they come forward. That is magnified when the alleged transgressor is a person in a position of power with armies of people who will defend that person and attempt to smear the accuser. Secondly, they in many cases are forced to replay an event that was or may have been highly traumatic. The backlash surrounding women and in some cases men coming forward recently illustrates exactly why people often take a long time to come forward. Obviously I'm speaking in generalities here but I think what I've outlined applies in many, many cases.

The reason this is person of the year is because of the wide expanse of it and how it took over social media. It took over social media because the majority of those posting it were lying or making stuff up.

The argument being that if they don't come forward soon enough they're "complicit"? Or is there another argument I'm missing? That's argument is pretty easy to dismiss. They're under no requirement to come forward in a time frame that suits you or anyone else and it's asinine to assume they're full of shite for not coming forward in a "timely" manner. If I'm misconstruing the "other" argument let me know. I don't want to "mock" you.

I'm not reading through this, but why are we discussing a magazine so stupid that it awards "person of the year" to a concept?
That alone makes me ignore what they say and tells me they've got an agenda. Name a person as "person of the year" and we can talk again.

the argument that there is a chance which exists that these women used their sexuality to advance their careers.

Are you claiming that some women don't use it to their advantage? It doesn't dismiss the original predictor but in Hollywood the casting couch is a long accepted concept
