Who would pay that amount for this site? Probably nobody.

I would like to see the gross income for this site for a year.

I'll re-post this for people too lazy to read to the bottom of the page:

quote:

Social media companies are usually valued by the number of users, not necessarily how much revenue they bring in. For instance, Facebook currently has a market cap of $231 billion and over 1.4 billion users, for a user valuation of $165 per user. LinkedIn has about 340 million users, and their current market cap is $24 billion for a $70 per user valuation. Twitter has over 280 million users and has a market cap of $23.5 billion, for a per user valuation of about $83.

If you take the average per user valuation of those companies you get $106 per user. I don't know how many users TD has, as they don't post them at the bottom of the page anymore, but I'd guess between TD and SECRant they have at least 50,000 users. Using that number you get $5.3 million, which makes TD grossly undervalued at $755,954.

Impossible. It's really only worth $755,953.

Agreed. I think that number's too low actually.

Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter literally have almost nothing in common with this site. You can't just apply #s from those transactions to try and figure out what TD.com is worth.

Better question to ask is who would buy this site. Maybe a business in Louisiana?

My guess is it's low as well.

Depends on what its cash flowing. Minimal labor costs are a huge plus on these deals.

I disagree. When trying to value something you have to look at similar entities.

Would Reddit be a better comparison? Both are mainly message boards.

Reddit is estimated to be worth around half a billion. There are an estimated 3.3 million active users for Reddit. Again using the same metrics (as I said, usually social media valuations come from number of users), TD is still worth much much more than $700,000.

Reddit attracts users from all over the world. TD.com attracts users mainly from the southeast (and a majority are from Louisiana). Apples and oranges.

This is true and it dramatically hinders the value.
Hence, all the other boards.

That said, a profitable business is a profitable business and thus, it does have a positive value.

There is no value moneywise to me for this site... Its a great place I have been a part of for almost TEN years.... I could and would get over it IF it was to go away, But in my mind this place is priceless and its a goldmine for me just becasue of the entertainment value,,, Chicken and CC have done the public a great service with this site.....

That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me on TD.

Question though Th03 posts as much as 12 users, are we both valued the same?
