If the PGA were to allow blacks to tee off from the ladies tees and give them 2 mulligans per side would that make you happy?

What about The International Swimming Federation?

What about the US Ski and Snowboard Association?

Wes B there are outreach programs out here that do bring minorities to the golf courses around here. All the things that you mentioned are legit reasons why young minority children even if given the opportunity to enter one of these outreach programs do not stick with golf for the long term. Football& basketball are king right now. BTW I have played some very good black golfers but they didn't start playing until college or for work functions and they just stuck with it.

Salon- The Masters Presents a Phony Image of the South
Interesting take on golf and its disenfranchising of minorities.

Also there are some surprising statistics on past Masters policies, such as golfers had to have black caddies until recent years

Also Augusta only very recently began admitting women and minorities.

Just food for thought...

You have European, Asian, African, Australian, North Americans, and South Americans all converging in Georgia this week to play golf. I guess you're right, they should reach out to Antarctica more.

Remember Augusta was a private club. I guess that BLM club not allowing whites now at its meeting gets a free pass. Am I right

IS a private club.

Bill Gates got turned down for membership the first couple of times he tried to join.

There is a reason there aren't any commercials during The Masters.

No surprise the best teams are located in the areas with the most golf courses

I don't think there's any way you're going to get black interested in golf.

When it's all said and done, golf is a lot like work.

Courses aren't located in or within reasonable distance to minority neighborhoods.

That's not true in cities. There are public courses close to most neighborhoods.

Green fees are expensive, further disenfranchising minitoties.

That also disenfranchises poor white people, if you must use that word.

quote:

Miniroties have no community leaders to teach them the rules of the sport.

Nobody has "community leaders" to teach them the rules of the sport, which are less complicated to learn than a spread offense in football. I grew up in private schools floating in what you would call white privilege, and the only guys I knew who were serious about golf at a young age were guys whose dads were serious about golf.

Golf requires money, a ton of patience, and a ton of time. For most people, the odds of reward for time/money invested are just higher in other sports. If you've never tried playing golf, you won't understand the individual practice time required compared to more popular team sports.

btw, Golf and the PGA did nothing to incorporate Tiger Woods.

Tigers Woods father worked relentlessly with Tiger from the time he was age 5. Tiger hit 1,000's of golf balls everyday.
It had nothing to do with him being a minority. It had everything to do with hard work.

Is it possible the minorities you are speaking about are being failed by their minority fathers?
