I was diagnosed with papillary thyroid cancer today. Any of you baws know anything about this shite? I’ve heard it’s a “good” cancer but I’m struggling to find the good in it.

Sorry to hear.
Not a dr but I can tell you my best friend’s wife, her sister and mother, have all had full recoveries from it and enjoy a normal life.
Probably important that it hasn’t spread.

There are no good cancers, only cancers that are more easily treatable and have higher recovery rates.

I wish you a very successful treatment and full recovery.

Well at least you don’t need to worry about that bum knee now.

Father had it. He had a surgery for it to be removed. Follow up every year for 5 years and then you're good and clear.

Obligatory: you’ve come to the right place

Thyroid cancer is treatable/survivable. Cancer treatment is amazing these days.

Not a Physician but I know that when you die it very likely won't be from this. It carries at least a 90% survival rate. Follow your Drs. orders and carry on.

Just had a relative with it recently, they were able to clear it up rather quick and she's on meds now to help with the thyroid since it took a beating during treatment. Other than that all good.

Sorry to hear this. Papillary is one of the more treatable and beatable cancers out there. Many times can be treated with just having a surgery to remove your thyroid. Where are you located/ do you have an appointment with an ENT yet?

Family member had it.

Removed 50% of Thyroid, threw in some thyroid meds on daily basis...and life moved on as if nothing ever happened.

That is, until 20-years later when other 50% needed to be removed...and life moved on as if nothing ever happened (again).

Hope similar (good parts) for you! Best wishes.

Lots of variables of course but I’ve known stage 1a to stage 3 survivors.

There really is no good cancer, but I understand thyroid cancer is the easiest to treat and has the best success rate. Just keep your thoughts positive and listen to your doctor. You’ll get this behind you.
