If I thought one kid had OD'd, I'd probably taken them all and have everyone seen to by medical professionals.

I don't know if that was an intentional Larry Gatlin reference but ISWYDT

Alright, I'm down for a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, but it could be something as simple as stepping on a sea urchin. Long about midnight she says "Daddy this is really starting to hurt." A medevac seems a bit much for a sea urchin sting, so he summons the private helo like a regular person would order an Uber. The others go along because it's their ride and it would be impolite to continue the vacation if the hosts are leaving. That may be all there is to it.

That's no fun for message board discussion/sleuthing. We don't know anything for certain so we are speculating.
And no one is being disrespectful or making light of the situation. A kid ODing can happen to any of us. And this conspiracy is much more likely than Hidden Tiger's fake history conspiracy.

I'm going with it being something simple, too. Everyone just went along just A. To enjoy the ride, and B. Be with their friend in time of need.
I'd imagine even if I were staying at a friend's house across town and he needed to go to the hospital, I'd go with him and not just stay in his house without him there

I'm hearing from a friend in the USCG that the emergency was that Kameron OD'd. Cline wanted fly on his own to keep things quiet rather than go with a Medevac. He works out of Tampa but that is the rumor he is hearing.

Doesn't make sense. An OD is a time sensitive emergency. You don't have hours to get a helicopter to a hospital.

It's going to take 3-4 hours from the time they decide to get a chopper to when they could be at an American hospital. At a minimum. And why would it be easier to keep things under wraps at an American hospital?

Let’s just say I wouldn’t do overwater night flying for all the gold in California.

You’ve got a horizon because of the lights. You’ve also got a hell of a lot more nav aids. Not the same as pure overwater.

Cline owned this Island. I’m saying his pilots likely made that trip a lot considering he lived in Jupiter. They may not have, you may be right. If I was a betting man I’m simply saying I bet they did.

And there were 2 people flying, would one of them not be watching the altitude? Airplane crashes from 1000 ft to 0 in no time but a helicopter would be slower and recover faster.

Isn’t the Bahamas to Miami only like 60 miles? I’d think from 1000 ft you could see the lights almost? Not disagreeing I don’t know just continuing the convo.

Hippa is much easier to maintain than privacy of 2am Coast Guard rescues.

Remember John Kennedy Jr? Flew straight into the water on a clear night because he became spatially disoriented.

Two pilots can make it worse, as they are fighting each other.

Altitude is not the immediate problem (although technically all crashes result from a catastrophically low altitude). The problem is you lose all sense of which way is up.

I went up with an instructor in the clouds in an Aeronica Champ. He juked it around some then asked me to tell him the attitude. Slight climb to the left, I said. That’s what every fiber of my body told me. He took a pen out of his pocket and let it go. It hit the ceiling. We were inverted.

You have to understand that when you become disoriented, you brain is screaming one thing at you even if your instruments say another. And at night over water, you are getting misleading visual cues. It’s worse than being in the shite.

I was inverted and would have sworn I was level. You can’t describe it. You have to feel it.

Wow, that’s crazy.

I fly at night often (commercial airline) and sleep like a baby.
