makes a difference to me. i'd much rather someone unarmed leave the house then me shooting them. but if they have a gun you don't really have a choice.

If three people break into your home, I think it's fair to assume they are up to no good. I'd be willing to shoot first and ask questions later.

Correct. How are you supposed to determine whether or not they have weapons?

It would be a question of if i wanted to more than likely die to save my roommates.

Yeah, I'd rather not shot someone. But if they come into my home then they've pretty much made the decision for me.

And most people willing to break into a house are probably strung out on drugs.
This is a huge myth

Either way, I'm not sure that it matters.

Any evidence for that assertion?

Wife and Son go in the closet with the phone to call 911. Wife is instructed to shoot anyone that crosses the threshold for the bathroom door that doesn't identify themselves as me. I shoot 1 as they breach the door. I close the bedroom door and slide a dresser in front of it. We wait for the police to show up and hope we don't have to shoot #2 and #3

Crawl out the window and go to my neighbors house and wait for the cops. Id rather not deal with the paperwork associated with killing someone.

This would be ideal. I'd rather not have to turn my house into an action movie set. But, with only 30 seconds, it would be tough to wake up the wife and two kids, one being only 3 years old, and getting them to crawl out of a window.

It matters because it changes the nature of how you deal with your adversary. A strung out druggie stumbling or breaking into your home is vastly different then someone or some group who is sober and has likely rehearsed their plan. The second scenario is typically more likely in home invasions unless you are a habitual drug user, then the strung out druggie is most likely an acquaintance.
