We are in the market for a cheap 7-seat SUV and the new Outlander is one of the vehicles we are considering.
Starts at $24K

I wouldn't buy anything from Mitsubishi.

Look at and drive a Kia, Hyundai, Mazda and Nissan before you spend that much on a Mitsubishi.

If I were considering Mitsubishi, I would look at the Hyundai and Kia models as well. And Mazda.

The Mazda CX9 has treated us well for the past 5 years. Drives well also.

I'd go get a used Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander. My wife has a 5 yr old Pilot and it's been rock solid

We have a 7 seater Santa Fe. Has treated us well the last 3 years. Resale sucks.

We had an outlander a few years ago. It was a good starter mini suv for us price wise. We had 0 problems with it at all.
The main reason we got rid of it was because Mitsubishi pulled out of BR.

Mitsubishi? This may be the first time I've seen an OTer admit to being poor. Must be a teacher.

Pilot or Highlander. Both pricey. Both good. Daughter has a Pilot; loves hers. We had a Highlander for 14 yrs, loved it, put 180,000 miles on it, trouble-free - but some power steering stuff and set of new tires were coming up that together would cost about $2k. We decided it was time to say goodbye to our old Highlander friend, wanted to downsize ride (and upgrade technology). Looked at Toyota Corolla hatchbacks - didn't like. Didn't want to spend $30k + for another Highlander - don't like Ravs. So we just traded for a 2017 Mazda3 Touring (hatchback). Less than 20k. Happy outcome. Also own a 2015 Nissan Rogue, which we also like muchly.

Couldn’t tell you the last time I even saw a Mitsubishi dealership.

Buy a couple-year-old Highlander for the same money and I guarantee you’ll get 250k miles out of it. They’re the best of that upper-midsize 3-row SUV bunch, and it isn’t really close.

Outlanders are fricking turds. Cheaply made and fall apart at 60k miles or under.
