I know you baws are trolling but power to weight ratio might suggest otherwise.
I don't think anyone is trolling about this. If this thing wants to have a lifespan outside of one generation, it'll need to weigh less than the 350hp Focus RS which is still a little pudgy at 3459lbs.

I get that but a legend brought back from the grave deserves much more than 340. That was my point.

340hp is pretty powerful if the car isn't heavy. It wasn't long ago that a Camaro had 305 and it was considered powerful.

if they can get it sub 3000 lbs with 400+ hp it'll be a beast.
looks like it draws from the new Toyota 86 on the rear end sneak peak

Lofty goal... highly doubt it will see those figures. It's MUCH cheaper to add power than it is to reduce weight.
I hate they made it a 2 seater and not a GT like the MKIV

But like someone said, Toyota probably wants to keep it less powerful than the Lexus so it might not get much more than 340

BMW sourced engine is a fail IMO

Not when its the M2 engine

Let me guess; turbo 4 banger.

One config yes. But the main config is a turbo six

They should just put the 5.7 V8 from the Tundra in it

Looks like an Alfa Romeo with the grill filled in.

Having owned several M cars, you can have it...
MKIV's claim to fame was it's ability to handle 800hp+ on stock long block, very mod friendly and highly dependable.

I thing the Toyota 86 weighs in at 2800 curb weight @ 32k new
a sub 3000lb car @ 400 hp could be had with the a similar build out + 2 cylinders and a factory turbo for 45k in my mind
the real question is what is the price point they are shooting for

I 100% believe you , and I really think you should go test drive that car.

Agree. Just impossible in today's climate.
The shistang GT puts out 460 hp.
Supra is a legend because of the 2jz.
Imo theres only two engines that rival it BARELY: 4g63 and the VQ-series from the 35R

Oh I agree it's easily doable, just don't think they will offer those numbers at that price point.

I gotcha. It would kill that market if they did it

That car is a little "too busy" for my taste.

Toyota
That answers your question.

The Z4 will not be an M car so this means more than likely the Supra will get the highest output spec. The new X3/X4 share similar engine platforms (B58) but will have an M series... Logic tells me to pay attention to that engine which is est 460hp...
I seriously doubt BMW would turn over their full on M engine, whatever it will be called S58? to Toyota for this car. I really don't understand why they'd even turn over their B58 either.
