I know he use to read the Lord's words looking into a top hat. How was he able to convince so many to follow him with that?

I believe

That the lord god created the universe

I believe

That he sent his only son to die for our sins

And I believe

That the garden of Eden was in Jackson county, Missouri.

I am a Mormon, and a Mormon just believes.

I love how mainstream Christians love to mock Joseph Smith while glossing over all the equally asinine shite in their own religion. As if Moses finding magical tablets was any dumber than Smith having magical glasses.

It'd seem normal if you were brought up as Mormon and weren't the questioning type. All religions are pretty damn strange when viewed from the outside.

Mormon weirdness hasn't been established for thousands of years so it catches a lot of flack. They are (generally) some of the nicest folks out there. Utah is awesome.

It's not quite that simple. I think there are some differences there that shape the debate and perceptions.

I've met a couple Mormon girls and they were always very nice people. Most Mormons seem like nice people, except Mitt Romney. He's a douche.

Yep. I also always enjoy the Catholic vs. Protestant arguments that happen from time to time on TD boards.

They all agree that God got a virgin pregnant with his son (who also happens to be him), and this son died and came back to life, but those protestants get so angry that a Catholic would "pray" to the Virgin Mary because it's just so asinine.

If Moroni dictated the book of Mormon to Joseph Smith in the 1800s why did he do it using King James syntax?
