The South would be a much different place today if he had survived and implemented his version of weaving the country back together.
The radical version of Reconstruction that took place in his wake was devastating. And still had negative effects on southern economy and society to this day.
His death was a bigger tragedy for the South than the war itself

He was the one who insisted on using Amendments to the Constitution to (formally) end slavery, which is the correct process as intended by the founders.
Contrast that to LBJ who used the Commerce Clause to push the Civil Rights act….because, you know, sometimes restaurant supplies can come from different states (literal court ruling when this was tried).

Broke a lot of rules and shite on States rights to keep the Union together. Too many people nowadays forget we are a Republic of States. The “United” States.

Davis correctly predicted this when he heard the news.

The only reason there was a Civil War was because the northern states couldn't make money off slaves.

There are some interesting facts about Abraham Lincoln and things leading up to and with the war that I didn't learn in school.

The north had very cheap immigrant families to exploit, no need for slaves.

I think he went like 2 wins 8 losses in elections for all the things he ran for. Multiple failed businesses. Interesting career arc.
