Dear Facebook...
I moved to what is widely regarded as one of the nicest cities in America, and you know what, it's pretty nice.

That's about the only time it's fun TO live in Baton Rouge. Once you have kids, it's time to GTFO.

You can only rotate between Ivars and Happys so many times before you realize you don’t want to waste your single days in BR

Well you moved to Nashville.
I moved to Philadelphia and it was great for a while but the winter wears on you...wearing jackets or sweatshirts or coats for 7 months of the year isn't fun. Also, the people fricking sucked. Not to mention how insane it is during election years.
Sure, way more to do, cleaner, I could walk 10 blocks in any direction and have every different type of food, multiple entertainment options, anything I wanted, but sometimes home is home. BR, Louisiana in general, is a slower and more enjoyable and relaxed pace. I think it's healthy for people to leave, but I don't think it's right for everyone.

A lot of times, I want out of here. When I walk outside in the morning and it already feels like 100 degrees outside, when I'm stuck in bumper to bumper traffic on a Sunday afternoon, when I'm watching LSU lose in the stadium while listening to my dad gripe about if for 4 hours, when a dindu murders a good person in a "good" neighborhood, when elected judges let another criminal back on the street to kill again, when yet another elected official is caught stealing from the taxpayers with zero consequences, etc.
But then, I have moments like I had last night: sitting on the front porch of my friend's doublewide drinking bud-heavy and swapping stories before going back inside for a jam session with a bunch of other musicians we all grew up with. Life can be so frustrating at times here, but it can be so easy other times too. There is something special about having everyone you grew up knowing accessible within a 30 minute drive. There's something about being able to participate in a culture of making music, eating great food, and drinking. In many other places, these character traits would be seen as flaws, but here, they are virtues. Now, that may not be the most efficient, clean, or civil way to run a society, but it can definitely be fun.
If I move away, I'm not really going to miss the football games or the crawfish boils so much as I'm going to miss the great times I spent with my friends and my friends' friends that are all still here. Sure, I can do those things anywhere. I can make new friends, and those old friends will always be here waiting for me. However, it sure is easy to live here and have a good time, and that can't be said about everywhere.

HELL YES
I have friends spread out from Houston to Birmingham. At the end of the day though, they're still relatively close and people come home for holidays. I get bogged down being back here often, but there are 15-20 times a year where I look around and I cannot imagine moving away again

I wish I could find a job as a petroleum engineer in Tennessee. I wouldn't hesitate to move there.

Moved from Baton Rouge in 2008. Every time I come back for a visit I am shocked at the regression.

Having to put on a jacket is enough for you to want to move back to a hot, humid, corrupt, falling apart mid sized city instead of
