Companies like Google, Uber, and AirBNB can get away with virtue signalling. They have huge market shares, so their super "progressive" leadership and PR teams can let loose their feelings with minimal repercussions.

But a small burger joint in a city loaded with small burger joints and tons of other great options? Either the owners are idiots (very possible), or this was a desperation move to get people talking about them and convince their mostly left leaning customers to start showing up more. I guess we'll see if it backfires, but it'll be tough to see if they see significant gains.

Burger joints are a dime a dozen. They should practically be begging for customers, not telling them to go elsewhere. Stupid move on their part.

Better add some ribs and wings to that menu.

I've never been to Cowbell, but I've heard it's extremely overrated and overpriced.

Based on this pathetic attempt at moralizing, I'll never set foot in there ever.

I say not going to a place that is willing to put out some virtue signaling nonsense takes more balls than continuing to support them with your dollars.

, I've already made it clear I'm not going to take some principled stand about hamburgers. That's fine if you and others want to do so.

I don't think I'm taking a "principled stand." The last time I ate there was long before they out of that statement. I won't be bad mouthing them or anything. I'll just be continuing my current habits.

Not suggesting you are. I just don't care about this kind of stuff if your product is good. I thinks it's a stupid business practice because obviously quite a few people do care, but I don't.

I was in that neighborhood recently so I called to place a pick up order. I hung up and went somewhere else when I saw that.

This

It's like putting "no KGB members allowed!"

Or

"If you subscribe to the tenets of Genghis Khan, you are not welcome!!"

Like there are active KKK members and Neo Nazis rolling around Oak St ready to drop in for a burger.

Really? We were going to grab a burger over there then saw this message on their website so we went to Bourcherie instead. Much better meal anyway.

What they're really doing is calling Trump voters, people who oppose the left, etc. white supremacists and Nazis.

They're not actually focused on keeping out genuine skinheads and the like. Why? Because they largely don't exist.

This. And they're not even subtle about it.

On a side note, are these people automatically issued hipster black framed glasses when they lose their minds and decide to be progressive libs?

From a quick glance, that website screams overpriced hipster joint so it wouldn’t be on my radar anyway.
