I wonder if what is happening in America is directly proportional to the need to be validated at any cost.

They suck.
To play a game their must be a winner and loser.
The biggest problem is Joey who didn't quite make the big leagues takes it way too serious. He is over the league. Gets a stacked team and beats down everyone. Some parents can't take their kids getting a 20-0 beat down.

Horrible idea. It may sound weird but I want my child to fail sometimes. It would humble her and give ways room to grow and get new perspectives on live from those experiences. If you're told how great you are your whole life, the world will give give you a rude awakening. It's better to prepare for.

I got them when I was a kid, and I'm pretty much a failure in life, so yeah they're a terrible idea.

All I know is my 9 year old daughter took note that she didn’t win medals so she got better until she did win medals. This was gymnastics.
When we did soccer, they all got trophies. She gave zero fricks.

My son’s football team lost in the Bull Dog Bowl. The coach wanted to give the MVP to my son (more of a year award). I told him to give it to someone else.

Yeah, that's fine for 6 and 7 year olds. When I played that was still t-ball so it's better than that. But at 8 we moved to regular rules. I think that's old enough, especially since there are usually 9 year olds on the same team.
