SaaS Executive. Worked my way up through sales, usually lead large revenue/GTM teams. Have had a ton of fun and done a couple of great exits. Currently at a sub-20 person AI startup that is crazy fun, and i am back on the ground selling for a bit to build a team from scratch.
I love the work that I do because I work in Education tech, so there's some good to come out of it. But I haven't loved every company. I still haven't hit 45, but it's close, and I'm aiming for 5 more years and I'm done with a 40 hour (read: 60) hour a week job.
I already do a lot of GTM consulting and am aiming for an LLC with some regional business spread over the next couple of years. I want out,but that doesn't mean I don't love it. The stress level is usually pretty high.

Electrical/controls. I work for an OEM, we build automation equipment and get to travel the world to install it. Very time demanding but I’ve been super happy here for almost a decade.
For a VERY brief moment I was being pushed into this field by a teacher. My dad talked me out of it because of the travel....I think he would have missed me with the travel.

Sales
With help of last salesman, and hard work for 2 years, i have it where i can take it easy, go see customers, 4-5 a day, and take every friday off, or make a few phone calls and call it a day . Have customers who spend a lot of loot bi weekly, and they call in all of their stuff to the inside guys, so all i have to do, is go see them every other week, buy lunch and reap the benefits.
On occasion, i'll help the drivers, and make deliveries when i'm in office and bored.
I did get lucky, getting St.Louis/Stl County/St Charles Co area, guy retired week before i applied. Other route is a ton of driving, and working with a lot of Small munis, contractors. U work hard for every $$$. Very few contractors who order stuff weekly, compared to St.Louis route.
90% of my commission is made from call ins and walk ins. He and myself set it up, so it sold itself, other 10% is new customers and bids on larger products.

Was my job until recently until retirement. Those missiles in Alaska and VAFB? Tested each new software build in the test lab prior to installation in the field. Great days when it worked loooong days when a change was made in the sw and they neglected to aprise us of a "minor" update in single line of code.
All in all though, the good days made it enjoyable.

I am a bi-vocational pastor. I absolutely love being a pastor. I get the privilege and honor to equip and watch people grow in their life with the Lord Jesus Christ. Because I am bi-vocational, I also own a drafting and design company which I also enjoy immensely.

I now do emergency management consulting after 30 years in the military. I like it a lot.
What does this entail? Who are your typical clients? Is it a recurring business or do you have to seek new business all the time?
