I drive Burbank nearly every day, where the speed limit is 55. So I drive it 55-60 and every single day I drive that stretch on Burbank several cars whiz by me going at least 70-80 like I'm not even moving. I stay in the right lane but even then they tailgate about 2 feet behind me until they finally switch lanes. Its ridiculous.

Or, what about an automatic suspension of their license?
This doesn't stop anybody from driving now. Driving under suspension is one of the most common charges in the newspaper arrest reports.

If you tell Baton Rouge drivers that accidents carry a much harsher penalty, they will just drive more "carefully" and cause even more traffic.
Baton Rouge traffic is the way it is, because drivers here are too fricking defensive. Everyone drives slow, doesn't move with the flow of traffic, no one knows the damn traffic laws and everyone here drives like they have nowhere to be.
If people would drive more assertively, we wouldn't have this bullshite we have every evening.
ETA: Prime example. Westbound where I-10 and I-12 merge, there is that incline close to where you can take the Hammond exit onto I-12.
Every damn day traffic comes to a complete stop at this location, but just randomly starts flowing right after. People are slowing down and even stopping for no damn reason. They are too cautious and it causes so many problems.

Well, all drivers DO suck, just some of them suck less.
I, for one, welcome our robotic driving overlords.

I would be ok with this. There really is no excuse for causing an accident

How bout we start with the basics:
1. Green means go; not go when you're finished texting
2. Red means stop; not stop if you feel like it.
And the next person who stops in the middle of a damn intersection waiting to turn blocking traffic is gonna get destroyed by the heat seeking missiles installed in my car. Everybody got it?!
(the "you" here is not directed at any certain poster, I used it in general terms).
Peace.

Honestly, Louisiana drivers in general should be re-tested every so often. I'm convinced 40% would fail
Louisiana drivers really are the worst. There are way too many examples to list, but the left lane issue is the most mind boggling. It's almost as if most of them don't understand, don't care, or they are just too stubborn to adjust.
Louisiana could have 8 lane highways and at any given hour the far left lane would still be filled with women in SUV's on their phones, "good ole boys" in F250's with Yeti stickers, and Popeyes employees in 1994 Impala's.
