no you can't because fats don't give a shite so they won't fix it. they will also ride coach on airplanes just to encroach on your seat even though they could afford first class or a private jet.

not really

the 3 most common things that people do to prevent themselves from getting out of poverty are all easy to avoid:

1. having kids before you can afford it
2. avoiding criminal (esp felony) convictions
3. taking school seriously to gain a baseline education

secondary factors that are widespread are drug usage (including alcohol and tobacco), being irresponsible with payment histories (rent, credit, etc), refusing to adopt valued cultural norms, and lack of a positive work history

sounds like Rick Santorum shite

what about people with Downs? what about crack babies?

what about kids who are abused, mentally ill, neglected, etc

I mean. How much blame/credit do people get for their poverty level or lack of poverty level?

Will you concede that SOME people can't help it, while still believing in your basic argument?

people with downs are extreme outliers

crack babies are a myth

i give them a lot, but will listen to justifications. there are always outlier events

but the VAST majority are guilty of at least 2 of the 3 major points i listed above

I will gladly welcome the day you have to step on a scale at the airport and pay more if you exceed the allowed weight limit.

Just like paying more if your checked bag is more than 50 lbs

Fwiw, you seem to be painting with an incredibly narrow brush. Obviously most down syndrome individuals cannot live a normal life, same with the crack babies. I've seen abused children able to succeed in life. Mental issues are a tough thing to defeat, but look how many successful people have fought certain mental issues and still accomplished great things.

that seems reasonable given the increased fuel costs to the airline and things like that.

As a tall, thin, good looking, successful, straight white male, am I the most privileged breed on the planet?

I feel so honored.

I didn't mean it literally so much as babies born to druggie parents

yea, there are plenty of people who make terrible decisions who still wind up well off, rich, etc

My parents are guilty of 2 of those.

They should never have had 4 children(life was so much better financial wise when it was just 2 kids). And my father gave up a full paid ride to college when he was younger and quit college after one semester. A decision that I know he regrets all the time.

for not agreeing that all poor people are poor because they made bad decisions?

See, that's the thing that fat activists (and even agnostics) don't understand - obesity affects everything.

It significantly raises medical costs across the board; it raises fuel costs; it raises the cost of all sorts of other products; it has unintended economic consequences that most people can barely begin to understand. This sort of crap affects every last one of us - I pay more in taxes, pay more in health insurance, and lose value of my dollar because of this.

So correcting the obesity problem - even with severe social shaming - is both necessary and sometimes good.

There is a reason that med schools dont want fat corpses, its hard as hell to dissect a fatty. It takes DAYS to get through all the stiff, fatty tissue.

You think fat people cost you more than the welfare, food stamp, etc loving crowd?

When i say shaming, i'm talking about the in your face or even behind your back rude comments. I agree that we should not have to change things in society to cater to larger people like bigger seats and whatnot. Make health insurance more expensive? Sure. I just dont understand the meanness. I feel sorry for fat people, poor people, whatever. Guess that is just me.

Only if they're forced to purchase two tickets as well.

There's nothing worse than being stuck on a plane for hours next to someone who can't fit in their seat.
