I wish someone would start a thread about where the best Mardi grass really is: Rio de Janeiro

Such a weird position. I think some places suck but I don't hate anything from them intrinsically and I definitely don't come up with nicknames that a 6 year old might come up with.

Rio's Mardi Gras is awesome, but people pay to see those group floats that just runs through that stadium..

first time I ever heard that term was from a gump, so the 6 year old mentality checks out

No one cares about AL the state. It's the fans we hate.

Yet you repeat it as if it's funny.

Maybe I'm taking it too literally when he said, "i just hate anything hellabama"

Nobody outside of a 50 mile radius of mobile travels to experience yalls crappy MG.

With all due respect, noting that I enjoy NOLA visiting several times a year, if NOLA doesn't get a handle on the highly visible assaults and murders taking place in the Quarter, that radius is going to increase. Mobile MG may be lame relative to NOLA, but at least my head doesn't have to be on a swivel walking back to the hotel.

Well, it is home to the original Mardi Gras in America. Let them have it. That doesn't mean it is any better than New Orleans. I'm not too sure how it stacks up to Baton Rouge, Houma, or Lafayette though. It may be better?

ETA: I have heard the Joe Cain thing is pretty cool.

We're just storing it there temporarily. Planning to throw it at LSU fans this year after 9 in a row. Payback for all the piss balloons.

I always laugh when folks from Alabama say the first Mardi Gras was in their state. Mobile was part of French Louisiana in 1699.

Mardi gras started in Mobile.

Carnival existed essentially everywhere there were Catholic settlements, it didn't start in Mobile unless they are also claiming Christianity started there.
