Rio's Mardi Gras is awesome, but people pay to see those group floats that just runs through that stadium..

With all due respect, noting that I enjoy NOLA visiting several times a year, if NOLA doesn't get a handle on the highly visible assaults and murders taking place in the Quarter, that radius is going to increase. Well, it is home to the original Mardi Gras in America. Let them have it. That doesn't mean it is any better than New Orleans. I'm not too sure how it stacks up to Baton Rouge, Houma, or Lafayette though. It may be better?

I always laugh when folks from Alabama say the first Mardi Gras was in their state. Mobile was part of French Louisiana in 1699.
