Pretty sure the first amendment doesn't say anything about false speech being unprotected.

I didn't say anything about criminal punishment.

And let me restate that post for clarity. If he intentionally posted a meme to directly misinform a class of voters on the voting process, there should be punishment for that.

Did you not read the part of my post where I said the media already is doing this with zero repurcussions?

CNN misinforms democrats every day. We should ban it.

It's honestly no shock to me that leftists want to eliminate free speech. I would just appreciate it if they cease calling themselves liberal. Nothing liberal about wanting to eliminate rights and criminalize speech.

Some could argue it's no different than ballot harvesting.

Wasn't it that no reasonable person would interpret that as factual?

In this case the person was being purposely misleading even going as far as to attach the candidate's endorsement.

Maybe. As it stands now, it is a federal crime to intentionally misinform people on the voting process.

From the FBI's website...

quote:

Intentionally deceiving qualified voters to prevent them from voting is voter suppression—and it is a federal crime

So take it up with them, not me.

If the left did it nobody would care because conservatives aren’t dumb enough to believe it.

Some of you need to read the 1st amendment and stop acting like it applies to private companies like Twitter or Amazon.

quote:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So a meme posted on twitter is subject to criminal action if the authoritarian left doesn't like it now?

You guys went from PC culture to supporting direct censorship. Now you are actually backing criminalization of speech. Then have the nerve to call yourselves liberal.

Made an official looking document. Posed as a candidate endorsing the text voting option.
