And he reads the question and the millisecond alex finishes reading the answer he buzzes in. The other contestants get frustrated they cant even buzz in on the ones they know.

This is by far the most relevant skill in Jeopardy. All the players know all the answers probably 85% of the time. Buzzer speed is the name of the game.

For being an actual contestant, one would always choose "average" (i.e. for the actual contestant pool) knowledge but unbeatable buzzer speed over the reverse.

I think you have to wait until Alex finishes the answer before you buzz in. So, you just have to get the timing down.

Today Matt buzzed in but didn't know, so his strategy backfired a little bit.

Of course.

Right, but it's hard and it's definitely a skill with clear winners and losers. After Jennings' first season, they actually changed the buzzer rules and started allowing new contestants and actual dress rehearsal with live buzzers. Jennings will be the first to tell you that buzzer speed is overwhelmingly relevant.

Are you insinuating that the guy lost today?

I already spoiled it a page ago and I'm sorry. I must have the earliest broadcast time.

Damn, I did not see that coming. The main way he was Jennings-esque is the % of times he went into Final Jeopardy with zero risk. Obviously, he must not have done that today.

And because he seems to have the personality of a celery stalk.

The (presumed) lack of a social life is why he is winning. He seems to know a little something about everything. He even did well in the hip hop category the other day.

The player introductions are obviously a lot more in depth than they used to be when I watched regularly. That's just too much for me.

Yeah, 200 bucks separated him from the other guy going into Final Jeopardy. All 3 of them got Final Jeopardy wrong, and Matt bet almost everything and the other guy only bet a few grand.

I'm surprised Matt got that wrong. It seemed like a category he would be strong in.

I can't believe two of them, especially Matt, guessed something NASA related. The year was 1962. NASA had been around since the 50s. He has to know that.. The pressure got to him.

All three of them were clueless on some pretty easy questions. I was shocked.
