Movies aren't the same culturally today as they once were.

Adam Driver, Timothee Chalamette, Cillian Murphy, Glenn Powell, Austin Butler, Rob Patterson, Bill Skarsgard, Evan Peters, Michael B Jordan all hold their weight against the old guard.

Yea I agree....I thinkk.part of the issue is movies are mostly for children now and there isn't a lot of high profile films that give these guys the ability to really flex their chops very often that they become "movie stars " to the general pubiic.

The bigger issue with the Hollywood product these days is a distinct lack of creativity.

Nobody is making movies like they used to. The money is going to making TV shows that drive subs, and that’s where the good writers are.

Cillian Murphy is the Gen-x Daniel Day-Lewis

Glenn Powell is probably up there for millennials if he can get the right roles, or Barry Keoghan. Also Austin Butler and Callum Turner

Alpha males are out and no man wants to watch a beta male. Women claim they do, but really they don’t.

Right. Nearly 50, like I said.

When did Gen X become "this generation"?

All those dudes are good actors, but Cruise is the only true movie star on that list. He's the only one on the list that can 'open' a movie.

I’m hoping we’ve moved past that and actors are cast based on being the best person for the role and not based on their name

The crazy thing is that money there is drying up too.

Look at all the consolidation in the media industry, right now the smart dollars are cashing out.

No one wants to pay for anything and advertising is a big turn off to some.

Unfortunately the money needs to come from some where and the years of banking on advertising and spending billions on rights for XYZ are ending look at the Regional Sports mess and the decline in Cable TV.

People would rather sit at home and swipe up or down watching shorts on YouTube or TikToks than watch a 2 hour movie with commercials about Relief Factor or AARP on TV.

Honestly between wonka and dune being two of the better movies I’ve watched over the last year or so he was the first younger actor to really come to mind that was somewhat memorable.

When every actor has to be a ze/zir zealot of color, the candidate pool is pretty shallow...
