re: This Couple Makes Up To $9k Per Instagram Pic While Traveling, Here’s How They Do It NSFW

Essentially their pics are so attractive, and people love to glorify attractive people doing attractive things, they get followed en masse. Eventually, brands start reaching out to them about sponsoring their trips and paying them to use their products, while linking people to their pages and sites. Its just social media marketing

60 Minutes had a piece on this last year. Basically, companies that want to reach young people pay people with 7 figure Instagram followers for product placement or a pic eating at their restaurant, etc. There were a couple young guys that were making 6 figures taking pics and posting videos on Vine

Exactly. It's really difficult and time consuming to "follow" someone on Instagram.

I thought this was going to be about the bucket list family. They've turned their travel into a career too.
Of course, he created snap code and sold it for a ton of money first. They supposedly haven't touched that money, but having padding like that sure makes it easier to sell all your shite for money.

yeah, I know what models are and get product placement, that's not the question. My real question about this business mode here is:
do they post pictures without getting paid, just regular ole pictures, no intentional product placement?
or, do they only post a picture on instagram if there's money involved?
I'm just trying to understand how the scarcity works

This is kind of the good side of social media. It has opened up avenues or revenue for people that wouldn't have likely been able to break through barriers.

Sorry you didn't get the message.. The question is why..? Is their life that bad they have to live vicariously through someone else.. But I digress, I'm sure you're all for living life through someone else.

Just realized you're being sarcastic. Oops.
One of the smarter companies is called Flat Tummy Tea. They've managed to get everywhere from low life Party Down South cast members all the way up to Kardashians and VS models. I imagine they're selling tons of tea to idiot women who think drinking a special tea will give them a flat stomach.

Most likely both, because one thing they need to do to keep themselves valuable is gain more and more followers, which is easiest to do by posting more often and using hashtags that people follow.

No, I'm sorry you didn't get the message. People can choose to "follow" someone on Instagram for a myriad of reasons, and just because you "follow" someone doesn't mean that you're living vicariously through them.

Yes, yes of course. That's it.

I think they post selfies and attention grabbing photos first. Once they have what is deemed enough followers, product placement offers come.
It is surprisingly easy. There's a girl in BR who seems to have gotten into the beer craze about a year ago, and her IG account is already mentioned in national magazines and she has beer companies and breweries sending her shite for photos. She's cute, but not a model. She just did a good job at taking clear photos that show her some of figure, keeping it mostly about beer, and posting enough times per day to make her impossible to ignore. I think it's pretty cool she was able to do that in such a short amount of time.
EDIT: With this girl, I think she started posting the beer photos first actually.. so bad example. But for the skinny type products, I think they're targeting IG "models" with lots of followers.

ok, but like today - April 2017.....(and perhaps you dont know)
is it 100% paid posts or nothing?
or a mix?
it's fascinating to me, to what degree someone can monetize an otherwise free service. Magazines are easy to understand, they pay, I pay. But this is so different to me
