How is Uber is Baton Rouge? It wasn't an option when I was last there.

At least taxi drivers don't sell drugs to and rape their passengers. But I guess that doesn't matter to some people who only care about saving a dollar or two on a car ride

I've used Uber three times tonight in Dallas for the first time ever.

Best thing since sliced bread.

Why don't the cabbies just get together and make their own app and copy uber?

Would need to involve the union to get that done.

Seriously though, this is what happens when competition enters the market and your product is inferior. Usually you can only have two of cheaper, better, faster. You get all three from Uber when compared to taxis. Tonight is a prime example of what people think of taxis. They are an absolute need and many will choose to drive drunk because they will take forever.

A buddy just used uber 30 minutes ago...trip was 22 miles..she thought the rate was mid $40s with around %7-9 surge hike...it was actually 7-9 times and just got billed for $329

They tell you the exact rate surge before you book as well as give you a warning message. The story is either bs or your friend is an idiot.

Your buddy is a fcking idiot. The price is very clearly shown and you have to accept it more than once.

Probably full of shite anyway.

She's an idiot..my wife tried telling her, but she didn't listen..she's so triggered at the moment

It didn't give us the exact total until we reached our destination...but the uber app clearly stated what the surge hike would be
..she thought it was percentage, not times the quoted amount

The thing is Uber is just such a better product all around that the majority of people would probably pay equal to, if not more than taxis to use it.

The fact that it's cheaper is just the icing on the cake.

And this is one of the best parts of the Uber system. It doesn't protect people from their stupid selves.
